I'm a little confused about how the realtime listener stats are displayed.

I use proscan to feed and right now it says I have 7 people listening.

If I goto my account page it says 5

Icecast Streaming Media Server which I feed into says 5.

And Icecast Streaming Media Server which seems to be the server people connect to listen says 1.

So which is the correct number?

Can can the # of listeners be displayed on a website?

I've been wondering about this too for the last week.
For my stream, RR web site shows currently 7 but I keep getting 2 no matter what method I try. All week It's been at 2 but the web site changes amount.

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/audio/?feedId=989
Shows 7 listeners

http://api.radioreference.com/audio/listeners.php?feedId=989
Shows 2

http://audio1.radioreference.com/
Shows 2

GET /admin/listclients?mount=/ca_sanbernardino HTTP/1.0
Shows 2

I also have noticed that my feed shows incorrect feed listeners, It will drop to 0 even if I'm listening on two computers and a BBerry.

From what I can tell they are using relay's between servers to break down incoming and outgoing audio feeds. I always like to know how many I have to the point I have a script that shows me on my desktop at 5mins updates who is online. I used to get 50 users a night before IBN went down. Trying to get the word out to my old listeners.

The number of listeners shown here are the number of listeners that our icecast infrastructure is streaming to. ProScan and other servers are different and independent of our infrastructure.

But why are the listener stats between audio2 audio3 and my feed page all different?

And where is proscan pulling stats from because they seem to be correct from all the testing I have done.

ProScan is currently using this method:
"GET /admin/listclients?mount=/ca_sanbernardino HTTP/1.0"
but apparently it doesn't work accurately when relays are involved.

Yesterday I noticed this method shows the actual listeners accurately
http://api.radioreference.com/audio/listeners.php?feedId=989
So today or tomorrow, I'll be implementing this method. I'll have to add a text box for the Feed ID for this to work.

audio3 is the server that is receiving the audio from your scanner and audio2 is the server that listeners are connecting to (audio1 and audio4 work the same way).

If ProScan is reporting the number of listeners that are connected to audio3 it's going to always report 2, one listener is the archiver which is archiving the audio and the other listener is audio2 relaying the audio from audio3.

The RadioReference JavaScript code (which I assume is what you're using on your web page) reports the actual number of listeners and not the archiver and the relay server.
