Listening to Tulsa Site: P25 Areas of Weak Reception

I listen primarily to Tulsa Police on the P25 system on the Tulsa Site

I have a TRX-1, a SDS100 and 200, and use the Radio Shack 800mhz antenna.

Although coverage in most areas of the Tulsa metro area is good, there are many areas where the signal
is very weak, or nonexistent.

Has anyone else experienced the similar issue?

It's normal for reception to vary depending on your location.

Yes..but I have found more than “normal” areas of suboptimal reception.

Using a handheld antenna inside a vehicle never works all that well, because the vehicle body acts as a Faraday cage blocking a lot of the signal. Get an antenna outside your vehicle and it will pick up a lot more signal, even a cheap Tram glass mount..

This is why I believe that TPD is still on OKWIN as well. Especially in south Tulsa
