I built a new Trunk Recorder system which uploads the unencrypted calls (MTO) from LMRN Site 38 Pontypool
www.broadcastify.com
Equipment List for Trunk Recorder System:
Trunk Recorder GitHub - robotastic/trunk-recorder: Records calls from a Trunked Radio System (P25 & SmartNet)
Odroid N2+ SIngle Board Computer ODROID-N2+ with 4GByte RAM – ODROID
Ubuntu Linux 22.04
NooElec NESDR Smart RTL-SDR (qty 2) Nooelec - Nooelec NESDR SMArt v5 SDR - HF/VHF/UHF (100kHz-1.75GHz) RTL-SDR. RTL2832U & R820T2-Based Software Defined Radio - NESDR SMArt Series - SDR Receivers - Software Defined Radio
Performance:
Linux top reports about 50% CPU utilization on the ODROI N2+ running Trunk Recorder on one site.
I'm running 4 digital recorders.
I installed the Ubuntu server distribution without graphical user interface, the ODROID is running headless (no monitor/keyboard/mouse)
Trunk Recorder works with P25, Smartnet, Conventional adn Conventional DMR
Each RTL-SDR can receive about 2 MHZ of VHF spectrum, so for LMRN I have 140-142, and 142-144 on each of the two RTL SDRs.
A more powerful desktop PC could have several more RTL-SDR receivers, each configured for a differetn 2 MHZ slice of the spectrum.
