Mississauga has gone to the dark side, from a medic in Brampton.

Georgian has been doing some testing on King City today, I'd expect them to be next.

Sounds like all Peel/Halton units have switched over. It was fun while it lasted

Peel Medic here. Can confirm Mississauga CACC (Peel/Halton Regions) switched to LMRN today as of 05:00. Georgian CACC (Simcoe/York regions) is scheduled to switch next week.

As someone who dabbles in radio I'm sad to know you guys can't hear us anymore. But on the other hand - I'm kinda stoked not to have to compete for a parking spot on scene next to three times too many tow trucks, lol.

If there's anything I can help you guys out with or any questions - reply and I'll see if I can find answers.

None of us are lucky. I missed most of the Mississauga CACC stuff go down but I lucked out with a few Halton EMS units leaving hospitals and told to go to base for the new radio and I have some of it recorded.

I also did hear that talkgroup Halton EMS South went to what they called VR or ER 2 so 20822 stands to reason.

I guess i have the last recorded Halton EMS transmissions it's a sad day.

I was looking at the changes and alot went Deprecated?? Still getting OPP and MOH for now.

It would appear anything confirmed to no longer be on FleetNet has been marked deprecated. Usually means it's marked for eventual deletion but in the mean time will show users viewing the database that it's not currently in use.

Since you're up in Barrie, you will be likely getting Georgian CACC still, but it's most likely next in line for the move.

OPP haven't moved yet in this region at all, so still good there for now.

Word on the street is once EMS is all moved over then OPP and the rest of the enforcement agencies will flip over. If they have the APX mobiles and portables and using the 700 MHz VR then they already have the new system in their radios. Just have to switch zones and that's that. When they change to the new system and activate their VR it automatically knows to switch to the P25 VR with encryption.

I don't know why some people get so upset over this. Does it suck after all these years? Yes, of course. But the wheels are in motion, we've known for years now that it was coming and there is no stopping it. Now you either find new things to listen to or maybe move on to a new hobby. Bottom line... the transition is happening no matter how hard we whine and complain. And as Ctsoom mentioned... for actual users of the system this is a big upgrade for them. Medics I know in my area are ecstatic knowing the tow trucks and whackers aren't racing to all their MVCs anymore, and I'm sure OPP will feel the same.

How's the radio performance compared to the old ones? Any issues with these new ones?

Only real issues I've heard of seem to be from Essex County Medics. Garbled/missed transmissions and pages not coming over the base radios time to time. Issues with the portables and VR's are the main problem but seems to only be in Essex County. OPP say the same on their portables on FleetNet so has to be something with APX and VR's.. or maybe that it's 700 MHz not 410's

My buddy in Middlesex only reports a little blip where a hospital patch didnt work once, and a single missed page on the base radio that's it. Everything he said is great! Audio is super clear and they all seem to like it a lot.

Show us the talkgroups and their alpha tags?
It's probably on your radio.
We can't hear you anymore, enough has been said about.

For me the change over is exciting.

Its a challenge to map out the system and users along with radios assigned to vehicles. EMS is not that hard although it requires a bit of luck being able to id a specific units radio. My current configuration is now a 536 programmed on the local EMS TG with the User ID fields populated. Eventually the scanner will display all the dispatcher names and EMS unit name and its area. May not hear what is being said but will know when a call is active in my general area. OPP may be just as interesting. OPP thinks that the radios will display the patrol area IE 6Sierra201 and not 6-2345 (hard ID for the car). cant wait to find out.

I agree that its a lot easier for EMS and others not to have a pile of people showing up "uninvited". Its a shame we are out of the loop but that is the way things are now.

I can't see OPP having the radio say their call sign as that changes per shift. I think they would say the hard ID number since that never changes for that radio/car

a 6 Sierra 201 with hard ID 6-234 might be an Oxford unit on the day shif,t but come night shift it could end up as a 6 Juliet 101. I usd to see a bunch of the old OPP cars that had the county name on them all over the place. Lambton cars almost all the time seen in Chatham-Kent. Elgin cars in Middlesex all the time, and on and on.

The Comm Centre dispatcher changes the Alias of the radio once the Detachment faxes in the deployment. This allows the banner on their console to show the callsign. I'm not sure how OTA aliasing works but I would assume they can have it changed to that.

A quick question: Is there a reason why they need all these CACC talkgroups?
Does it not make it more difficult for dispatch to manage?
