Basically what I was trying to say is with cheap chinese mass produced items you never really know what you are getting. I don't know if this is the case with LNA's or not, but it wouldn't shock me since almost every other product line has these issues. From radio, to audio amps to vape gear. The specs sometimes mean nothing. I am sure some of these companies don't even bother testing their product, short of seeing if it functions or not.

Some stuff form China is pretty good, some is so-so, but worth the low price, and some is pure junk at any price. It has been that way for the last 30 years. If you see a product from a company you have never heard of, there are very few reviews and it sounds too good to be true it just might be.

My RCA pre amp works ok, based on some simple tests I did with my RTL dongle, which isn't exactly high end test equipment lol. It gives me about 10db of amplification without raising the noise floor horribly high. However the FM trap is completely worthless, it barely does anything when you turn it on or off. The RCA products of 30 years ago are not the RCA products of today. It used to be top of the line stuff, now it is Kmart bargain bin stuff.

I would be willing to bet this company from Canada these guys are talking about has far better stuff than my RCA lowes special pre amp, and at half the price. At the time I didn't know any better though.

Correct about much the the cheap Asian stuff, I would not put a lot of faith in the $8 LNA on ebay vs some of the better known sellers that have a similar product for 4 times the price. It is possible the $8 Asian LNA is not horrible, but why chance it.

The Mini-Circuits PGA103 chip is over $4 alone, this does not include circuit board, support chips, Voltage regulator, connectors and so forth. So for a $8 LNA pre-Amp shipped from Asia, I am not seeing it as a good performer. This PCA103 discrete amplifier is a very common and high quality building block of many of these circuit board amplifiers. The cheaper Asian LNA;s are not using this discrete amplifier, but probably something far cheaper with a higher noise figure and more than likely not as good performance.

If I were you, I would replace the RCA TV Amplifier with this - Ultra Linear Low Noise Amplifier 10MHz - 2GHz LNA Gain > 20dB NF 0.5 dB PGA-103+ | eBay

I would add this FM notch filter on the input of the LNA - FM Notch Filter 88-108MHz; 85dB Rejection; Bandstop; 9th order SMA-M + SMA-F | eBay

It will run circles around the RCA TV amplifier. If its an older TV amplifier the Noise Figure it probably no where near the 0.5 NF of the above amplifier. I think you may have had problems with the Weather transmitter nearby as well, you may find the above LNA may not be as much of a problem as the RCA TV amplifier.
