When my former employer was done with them, they simply stripped them from the vehicles and turned them back in. I never bothered to ask if they could be re-purposed into fox hunting receivers.

The receivers are not very frequency flexible. That, due to the phasing in the front end.
They can be modified down to about 160 Mhz but you loose the DF functions.

Are they still on business? I have a couple of them and one is equipped for movement if the security Fob is not inside the car with the keys. Years ago I would get email, text, and telephone notifications if I didn't leave the keys inside when I transport the car in my trailer. I no longer get those notifications and I'm sure the battery in the Fob has to be dead now.

Yes and LE actively still tracks them

Early last year I bought four Optimus Tracking System devices. The recurring annual cost is a tad expensive as compared to Low Jack. Although, you xsn manage the tracking via the internet whereas LoJack you couldn't

i just use cars that no one would ever think of stealing, bought the last one for under 1500.
if they stole the radio, i might get one with knobs on it.
AC did not work, and i am acclimated to Florida weather anyway.
it developed two tones, blue on the sides and a black mold on the top.
i never bothered to lock it.
the first step to defence is a good offence, and this car was offensive.
