800-899 are mutual aid and special event groups but I've heard LMPD doing drills on 816 from time to time.

Sorry, didn't think! 801-999 is the common talkgroups range which includes event, mutaid, etc.

Wonder why they would be using 816 for drills. I am pretty sure LMPD academy has their own talkgroup way back in the double digits.

I have a pro-96 and am going to be living in Louisville. I was just wondering whether I have to worry about rebanding or not.

They use the Event groups probably because any radio they get their hands on, for training purposes, have the event channels on it and it is probably easier to work off of. Not all the radios(just an assumption) would have LMPD training on them and that would be a large cache of radios to have laying around not being used all the time.

What is talkgroup 816? Is it event 12?

Last night at about 2:30 am a buddy of mine called me up and asked if I had heard anything going on near the Phoenix Hill Tavern, he saw about 15 cop cars, ems and the LMPD air unit all in the area and there was nothing on the news today and I didn't even have my scanner on at the time so does anyone know what was going on last night?

LMPD's flex unit is pretty active in that area - specifically that block. And there is usually an EMS unit on standby nearby. Usually about 5 marked units in the block radius. Air unit isn't around that area though.

Jefferson school buses

So with this mornings article on the Jefferson co school system buses getting new digital radios
will they be joining the rest of the metro on metro safe , Or will they install a new system ?
IF, coming to metrosafe, any ideas as to talkgroup assignments ?

St. Matthews PD may be on 56, 57, 58? I have heard them though and it doesn't quite sound like it would be them.

51 is Jtown PD Dispatch and is supposed to be clear. Did you hear this encrypted?
52 is Jtown PD Traffic and is supposed to be clear. Did you hear this encrypted too?
53 is Jtown PD Tactical and it is encrypted.
54 is Jtown PD Investigations and it is encrypted too.

Where did you see the article? I haven't seen it yet.

They may go with an LTR system based on what I've heard.

How about their security, maintenance, food service/catering folks?

If they go with MetroSafe, they may make a new category above the Transportation category. You can see the other ranges here:

For anyone else out there wondering about the article... It was in the CJ on 2011-01-18.

56 is police dispatch for an unknown department. I am not familiar with the unit numbers. 201, 203, 205, 207, 301, 303, 307 and some more in that range. I just heard a call to Kendall and Hillside.

Which 1600s did you hear? I know 1614 is for TARC.

I think it's Shively PD on 00056

You are correct, Shively PD is on TGIDs 56 and 57.
