I cringe to think of any agency dealing with the dropouts of OpenSky.

Listening to LAPD feeds and doing some scanning on a visit, it becomes apparent that some of their channels rarely seem to rest during the day and weekends. I can only imagine the impact of regularly needing to repeat just 5% of their transmissions.

Download of Freqs?

I'm looking to download the new Metro P25 frequencies but I don't see them listed in the database. Has anyone started that file? I'm not savvy enough to program digital without software and I can't seem to find the new frequencies when I download them from RR. If they're there where should I be looking?

Actually I think I found it but I can't seem to find it in the Home Patrol Master HPDB. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Also does anyone know if the BCD396T can receive the Metro P25? I downloaded it and put it on that scanner but I'm not receiving anything.

LVMPD

They are right here Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (Project 25) Trunking System, Las Vegas, Nevada - Scanner Frequencies the system is now Phase 2. (It was coming in for a week or two as phase 1) So it seems as of today you'd need a Phase 2 scanner to hear them. Options would be GRE PSR-800 (discontinued however still a few for sale out there) and the other options are the new Uniden bcd536hp and 436hp. Soon I guess the Whistler brand scanners will be out I expect they will have the same as the GRE PSR-800 with their name on it.

Thanks for the replies... Just realized my extensive scanner collection can't do the new P25. I'll have to look for one that does.

I have the same question as well... I'll be out in Vegas in March of 2015 and I'm in the market for a new scanner now so if LVMPD is monitorable with a phase 2 capable scanner that might sway my purchase choice.

By then (MAR 2015) I have no doubt LVMPD will be mostly in the new phase 2 system. I forget what the delivery schedule was, there was three or four major payments scheduled in the contract. I have the BCD536HP and it works great for Las Vegas area phase 2.

Is there solid confirmation that Phase 2 is actually in use? Or is it just that we saw P2 idens in the PRO96COM/Unitrunker data and assumed?

markee71 (or anyone else with a 436/536) - if you wouldn't mind trying something it would help answer this. Turn "Unit ID Disp" off, if it's on, then scan the LVMPD P25 system as normal. Watch for the display of one of the following three icons:

Mark's Easier to Read Manual said:
P25 appears if the channel is receiving digitalized voice in Receive/Hold Modes (Disp. Unit ID Off-BCD436HP only).
PT0 appears if the channel is receiving Phase II time slot 0.
PT1 appears if the channel is receiving Phase II time slot 1.

Let us know which one(s) appear. If transmissions come up P25, that means the system is operating as a Phase I system. Only if you see PT0 or PT1 is the system actually Phase II.

As I have said in other threads, there's a lot of systems in the DB which are mistakenly listed as Phase II simply because they are Phase II capable. Capability does not equal operational use.

Ok then. Confirmed - to the right of the date - this is running Phase II. Thanks, I just wanted to be sure people (who have Phase I scanners) weren't getting shut out unnecessarily. :)

Gotta wonder though if the big E will come into play once the system is swung over... for the sake of the locals, I hope not.

I'm headed to Vegas on Friday... Hoping to record some good quality P2 samples from a non-simulcast site while I'm there.

I have two friends wanting to buy new scanners to listen to LVMPD again....I would hate to tell them to go ahead if the E switch gets turned on later.
