Hi off topic a bit but I am also in pahrump and we cannot find the Nye County School bus frequencies anywhere. Anyone have them? I want both receive and transmit with repeater offset. Thanks. PS; I am a driver.

My sincerest thanks and appreciation to w7mag Paul for finally figuring out how to program the NCSO Astro25 in to my 436hp. Hopefully the DB will soon be made compatible with the new X36 scanner line.

OK guys I have what might seem to be a stupid question but after investigating I am at a loss as to what would be the best handheld scanner to buy. Uniden's are all over the market but I have read that they still supply serial cables with their scanners. I want a respectable scanner that will be up to date and includes the ability to receive all the new trunking and digital signals. Any ideas? Thanks Gary

Hi Gary,

That is a tall order....
There isn't really any scanner that I'm aware of that can decode ALL of
the new trunking and digital formats. It may be best to find one that works
and covers what interests you most for your area.

What major city are you near? Pahrump perhaps?
If so, and you are interested in listening to LV Metro when you go over the hill,
I'd suggest the Uniden BCD436XT Hand Held simply because it will pick
up NCSO and metro's P25 Phase II when that is fully online.
Providing they don't encrypt all of it.

Hi Paul, yes Pahrump. My mother is in her 80s and listens to her trunktracker 200 a lot, however it died a few days ago and I am trying to find a new one that I can set up for her.
The Uniden is nice but I am reading that they are very hard to connect to the new or current computer systems and many models need to be upgraded to current standards before they can even be programmed with the frequency database. I am not happy with decision to use serial cables instead of USB. Its been 30 years since I was into radio and am not sure I can even program one. Lol but, I am looking for the latest digital scanner that can receive NCSO and fire, ambulance, and such. No need for anything out of Town. Thanks Gary

We all know that Paul meant the Uniden BCD436HP.....not an XT.
