My home 20 eating pizza.
Dang. I didn’t remember it being online onto the 2000’s.

I used to get Lyco on, I think 154.400 back in the day and always liked hearing the calls go out. One of our long gone mutual aid departments used that as their dispatch so I had it in the scanner and portable. For years I was confused by who I was hearing. Once it changed to the current dispatch I get nothing. I can’t even get Sullivan from my 10-20.

March 1st, 2026 old PL tone (167.9) for Fire 1 will be turned off. No mention of Countywide PL going too but it was mentioned to make sure ALL channels are updated with the new PL's.

If you truly want to figure out a PL tone for a input freq then it's pretty easy to figure out if you know what you are doing. In my opinion RR shouldn't even have a column for it. If any input PL tones are said in the forums then it should be deleted. Where most counties go wrong is matching the PL tones for both Output and input.

The reason radio reference does it is so that people personally programming radios or pagers can get the information and the person can get that radio or pager back to the customer because some counties you have to go through a whole process

Having the receive pl is fine but nobody but a first responder or a county worker should have the input pl tone

Yes a process that is in place so radios cannot illegally be placed onto their radio systems. Any true customer will go to a reputable radio shop and not some fly by night kid who can't hack it as a radio tech. I can't wait for P-25 then you definitely will be out of the system, unless you are an approved shop.

You don't need PL's or inputs on a pager!!!!!!!

Edit:I hope someone catches you programming radios illegally and they lock you up for it or fine you, for you to understand this isn't a game. Also, I don't you think you are ready for the liability of not programming a radio correctly and someone dies as a result of not being able to call a mayday or a signal 13 or their emergency button doesn't work properly, because believe you me, they will throw you under the bus in a heart beat.

Best of luck to you.

I agree even if you are doing your own radios, they should be taken to the shop so the correct IDs and such can be put in verifying you are LEGALLY allowed per an approved agency in that county to transmit on their system.

I have my own radio system, along with 2 counties in my radios. I program my system because I'm the System Admin and if anything needs changed from the counties the Chief or Communications Officer will setup a time to get my radio reprogrammed by a tech.
