Did you program the LCN for each frequency?

I never programmed the LCN for each frequency. I was hearing audio on the Lincoln Lift site without doing so. I will go back and see if doing so makes a difference. Funny, I was up at about 0400 and wanted to start fresh on new log pages so I deleted all the log entries so I would have a fresh page, given that the opening of ski season on the 15th of November would be starting later that morning. That is the last time I was able to log anything, until I logged (without audio) on the limit search.

Again, I will try the information given me in the links for each site.

I rarely use the database as I am running DSDPlus or SDRTrunk or UniTrunker. I only recall the LCN being in small numbers next to the freqs but I just realized that they are under the sites. So here are the LCNs for the 3 sites in the database:

Where does the Channel ID number get entered? My frequency screen only shows (from left to right), Frequency, LCN, Color Code and Lockout. There isn't a Ch ID column.

It doesn't look like you have it programmed in as a DMR Trunked system (although nobody would know because you haven't posted screenshots of the actual programming in the scanner). It should be programmed in as DMR/MotoTRBO -> MotoTRBO Trunk.

And for every frequency you add, you need to also add the LCN. If you click on the "Mammoth Mtn Summit" site for instance, you will see any LCN associated with each frequency as well as a color code. You need to program the LCN and color code in for each frequency when you program the frequency in.
I would have no idea how to post screenshots of the actual programming in the scanner, that is why I haven't done so. Much of this is over my head, I'm not much of a techy. Hopefully I'm learning something with all of this, but I won't know until I get the system to work.

I'm picking up the snow grooming (snow cats) talkgroups now on both the Mammoth Mountain Summit site and the Lincoln Lift site. I won't be able to make sure I'm picking all the talkgroups I previously recorded (on a piece of lined notebook paper with pencil). I don't know, yet, how to produce audio recordings of what I hear. I have no explanation as to how I was picking up audio and history logging without the LCN and color tone before. It worked for nearly a month, until it didn't. With the ski area being busy during a holiday weekend I should be able to figure out the function of each talkgroup.

One thing I pretty well versed on is the organizational structure of the ski area and how they communicated on the old Type I trunked system. My wife and I have a friend who works at the mountain and I might be able to convince him to get me a printed channel list.

One last question for now. Does a signal transmitted by one site get transmitted on the other two sites in the system? In that way, if someone calls someone using the Lincoln Lift site, does the signal get picked up on the Chair 12 site, for someone who is only in range of the Chair 12 site?

THANK YOU, THANK YOU AND THANK YOU for all of you that have been helping me with this!!!!!! I'm glad they didn't flip the old "E" switch, which was my fear. With my knowledge of how the ski area functions I should be able to start posting some talkgroup info here between now and Christmas.

I forgot to mention that the day I stopped hearing the audio and the history log showed no talkgroups was a on the 15th of November and prior to that I was hearing the Lincoln Mtn. site without LCN info being entered. I'm still mystified by what changed early that morning. I wonder if it was something the ski area did or something else. I guess it doesn't really matter if it continues to work now. It was only down for a little less than 2 weeks, thanks to everyone who helped out here.

Without LCNs (and the proper ones) your scanner will not trunktrack. You might be able to cycle through each channel on a site and hear something, or not, but the idea is you want it to actually track conversations. You need to have everything programmed in for each frequency, LCN and Color Code. And, until you know it is working 100%, you should also set, I believe in the System Options for that particular system, ID SEARCH (instead of ID SCAN). ID Search will then play audio for every talkgroup that is active / not encrypted, even if you don't have that specific talkgroup programmed in. After you get it all working you scan switch to ID Scan if you prefer.
