If anyone out in Garrett County can check, how is the service in downtown Oakland currently? The new subsite to improve coverage in that area should be online now. Garrett Simulcast cell.

My first guess it is a university, but none are located in Montgomery. There are some remote campuses however. Hmmm.

Agree. Thought it might have been one in the Baltimore Metro area but had no radio traffic related on Anne Arundel or Baltimore cells.

After going through my approved user list/notes. Maybe MFRI? Maybe someone was just near the Montgomery Cell.

MC does have a large fire training facility, so certainly possible. I believe their HQ is in College Park on the UMD campus, so presumably there would be activity on the PG site as well.

Good morning all

I’ve been monitoring the Lambs Knoll ASR site a lot and what I have noticed is that it gets a lot of activity on a constant basis. Surprisingly enough it gets a lot of distant activity as far east as MSP Waterloo and as far west as MSP McHenry (just using MSP as an example but you will hear other stuff too) and everything in between. I know I’ll get the normal response of “people traveling to and from” but they seem to be active more then not. Is there something special about this site ? Some come and go but I must say this is probably my favorite First site. You seem to get a taste of everything.

There's a radio affiliated on that site that is listening to that talk group.
Not all radios move, some are control bases at a barrack, police station, fire station...etc that may sit on a talk group for weeks or more.
Many 911 centers use control bases as another way to backup their console in the event a microwave or fiber link goes down. They may have a rack full of radios just sitting on talk groups ready to go.
I maintain one that has 18 consolettes sitting on whatever talk groups the dispatchers have them set so. Most of them can change channels remotely.
Something out there is asking for that talk group and it's in range of the Lambs Knoll site.

I'm not surprised that Waterloo Barrack Troopers can be heard on the Lambs Knoll site as Howard County extends west to almost Mt. Airy. The McHenry Barrack. What does Unitrunker show as Peer sites to the Lambs Knoll site?

This is what DSDPlus shows --

I would surmise from the above that if a Waterloo Trooper was affiliated with the Mt. Airy site, they would also be heard off the Lambs Knoll site. But it also could be that the Frederick and Howard counties share a (very tiny) border, and the system logic is programmed to accommodate MSP operations.

Hearing MDTA Police BWI on First on the Baltimore Simulcast site.

I think it's a patch with them operating on BWI's TRS for primary ops. Don't remember them being received on First before and looks like a patch from the BWI system, as no radio ids are showing on G4/G5.

It is a patch from the MAA system for MDTAP BWI Ops. It started about 2 months or so ago. MDTA Radio shop did extensive radio testing during the process of the patch going live both on the MAA system and FiRST. There appeared to be some issues but they worked it out.

I have often seen it active on Anne Arundel, Howard, and Baltimore Sites. I have it locked out now but believe it is full-time or mostly full-time patch.

What FIRST TGID are you seeing them on?

Thanks - always helpful if people include the tgid when discussing a new behavior, even if the tgid was already documented.

I am seeing that FEMA 3 Region with a TG ID 14331 needs to be added to the database here plus 7834 is not listed . I caught the FEMA 3 Region on the PG Site around 0751 this morning.
