• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Is there not any way to select multiple channels so they all come through the headset instead of the speakers?

You have to go into the audio settings, and there you can see your choices. You will need to use elite admin and open up each resource and change its audio settings. There is no way to "select multiple" for selected resource.

What you are describing is Multi-Select. Set up a multi-select group.

Your vendor should have left a copy of the operators handbook, if they didn't tell them to get you one. Basic stuff like this is addressed in the handbook.

Here's a link to a PDF copy though, it's a bit dated. http://www.brics.butlersheriff.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/mcc7500-dispatch-operator.pdf

THIS!!! I have access to the operator manual already I'm looking into this now will post back in a minute

This issue with the multiselect group, is that to select it, you have to put it in editing mode. If the console operator isn't careful it can get really funky really quick. You can lock the editing in Admin. It's just really goofy.

No, it's not. A multiselect group is created by selecting MSEL 1,2 or 3, clicking the edit button within the MSEL group and selecting the resources you want in there. The dispatcher or anybody else doesn't have to go into elite admin to do this whatsoever. Same way with creating a patch within the console.

Tech21 you are 100% correct. If I am interpreting the original question correctly, the question is about having audio from multiple resources sent to the headset (assuming select audio). Creating an MSEL grouping does not inherently route the audio to "selected" You have to select the MSEL grouping for that to happen, and the only way to do that is to put it into editing mode in Elite. So if the dispatcher clicks on another resource without without first unclicking edit on the MSEL, it will add the resource into the MSEL. This is usually not intent. It can get wonky really fast if you are not careful how it is implemented.
