• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hi all,

Wanted to ask if someone has deployed an MCD5000 system, these are the requierements form customer.

1.- They want to use MCD5000 over their Network but the are not asking RGU or APX Consolettes, they think that MCD5000 can work without them. They are using a system called Open Voice, this works as an intercom system, they put up the handset of their station, press PTT and all others station along the network can hear the message at the same time, so they want to update them with MCD5000 but I am not sure of this one can work as that. Is it possible?
2.- They are asking one OMC server, but I read at the manual that one system can only handle 100 MCD5000 and not 133 as they are asking, they have to buy another OMC in order to have these 133 MCD5000 working at both systems, am I right?
3.- With no RGU or consolettes how these MCD5000 could have communication between them?
4.- Is it possible to connect 133 MCD5000 to the same VLAN and subnet to get the connection from each point to the server? What do we need to have this scenario working? I know that the customer needs to have already connection from each point to the central core, but what type of system configuration do we need, I read that we need to put IRC proxxy but I have not done this before.

Thanks to all.

Talk to your Motorola dealer. Most of us here hook up MCD's to RGU's/Consolettes and don't attempt to use them in ways they are not designed or intended to be used. Chances are, it won't even work for your intended use.

It's designed to act as a control head for a remote radio to put it as simply as possible.
