I just turned on my scanner and don't here anything on the MCSO system. I assume they are switching to the new P25 system? I have a BCD325P2 and using Freescan to program. When I upload the P25 system to the scanner there are no talkgroups listed like the programming for MCSO Mot type2 programming. Is that because the groups are not known yet or do I have to manually put them in?

If anyone has a Freescan file for MCSO sheriff , that would be helpful. I just started programming the P25 system and just seem to receive only the base unit.

do I have to manually put them in
You can temporarily put the scanner in ID Search mode to see if it's working.

Hit the FN Button and push SCAN while scanning.

The display will say "ID Search."

Please post a link to the system you are trying to monitor.

Yes MCSO is on the new P25 system, the talkgroups that have been identified are in the DB and you can import them using Freescan (I did it this morning). When importing make sure you select the Sheriff category or it wont import those talkgroups.

I did select the sheriff in the right column but it still is not importing the talkgroups.

Not sure what sites are carrying what TG's but if you are just wanting to monitor the west county, White Tanks should do it.

The talkgroups seem to be site dependant. District 2 and 3 are on the White Tanks site. If you want to hear East districts, you need to be within range of a more eastern site. Try Thompson Peak.

I am hearing the NW, SW, and Central units. On the old system I could also hear Lakes, and the East units.

On the old system all of the talkgroups were on all 3 sites that the SO used (White Tanks, Thompson Peak, & The Court bldg). On the new system the talkgroups are probably site dependant like John mentioned, try using the Thompson Peak site for the East valley districts.

It must be site dependent, just hearing west units and central. Tried putting the east sites in but I'm probably too far to receive. Next time I go to the east side I'll unlock those sites and see what happens.

District 1 is Southeast, except Queen Creek
District 2 is Southwest
District 3 is Northwest
District 4 is Northeast, except Fountain Hills
District 5 is the recreational lakes and the Salt and Verde Rivers
District 6 is Queen Creek
District 7 is Fountain Hills
District 8 is the Mountain parks (formerly Parks & Trails district, and before that they were the Maricopa County Park Police)

East-West is roughly separated by I-17.

North-South is roughly separated by Northern Ave.

The Phoenix simulcast seems to carry a mix of East (at least D1) and West (at least D2) districts. I would think that the North County simulcast would do so as well (D3 and D4?).

Yes, Anthem carries east, west & lakes & callbox. Thompson Pk active with Lakes & 700.

On old System Thompson Pk was a site that carried most groups, now its very quiet. Thompson main current use is backup high site. Most of the talkgroup stay within the main Simulcast sites: Phx Simulcast is hub & stretches out to other Simulcast which covers the most populated parts of Maricopa County.

Anthem Simulcast main site Mt Gillen
Phoenix Simulcast main site Shaw Butte
South Mt Simulcast

What scanner are you using? I am using a RS PRo652, downloaded and transferred the db to the scanner and still have a brick. Any suggestions?

You need a Phase 2 capable scanner, I used a bcd325p2 but others should work the same

A PRO-652 will not work with this system. The system is P25 Phase II, and your scanner cannot receive P25 Phase II.
