I better not say this too loud, but on TGID 348, I am hearing what sounds like a patch of Trenton PD. My reception again is spotty, so I can't tell if the patch is full-time as I've experienced some gaps in between transmissions, but it sounds like the primary dispatch channel to me, and all of the locations dispatched come back to Trenton City.

I guess you did say it too loud, because someone that clearly has no concept of keeping certain things on the down-low decided to add it to the database. Let's count down to them switching the encryption to the ON position for that channel. Thanks again, RR!

Unfortunately the powers that be already made it clear that their policy is to post anything they find, regardless of whether it is smart to do so or would lead to agencies shutting us out. Same thing happened with Philly's sensitive talkgroups, and they were 100% encrypted 3 weeks later. That's why I always tell people to share sensitive information privately.

well, talkgroup 348, trenton police is now encrypted. about a week after it was added to the database. hope whoever added now realizes that backfired. don't know why they even need to encrypt when LSM is like encryption during mobile scanning.

Hey All, longtime listener, but new to the P25 game. At least here in Mercer Co. A couple questions, if anyone knows...

- Basically, over the next several months, all of Mercer will be switching to the P25 system, including all township LEO'S, not just county operations?
- Fire/EMS should still be in the clear (for P25 decoding scanners), but all bets are off for the remainder of police communications (Trenton, Ewing, Lawrence, Sheriff, Prosecutor already in encrypted talkgroups)?
- The hobby fun left to have with this system (outside of Fire/EMS) will be to ID Search for new talkgroups in the beginning and then listen for the random event when clear communications are mistakenly given (due to new radios, bad keys, button press, etc)? Trying to get a grasp of the extent that this system may have on listening to Mercer Co.

Thanks!

This system already is up & running - user migration is all that's left to pay attention to (Mercer seems like one of those counties that still has 'home-rule' quite substantially entrenched in the minds of the top brass of numerous towns).

This may be one part of it but another part is that the system doesn't yet provide the same coverage as some towns' own channels. Fire is somewhat protected from this because the plan is that most or all HT fireground comms will be simplex, and once coverage improves you may (or may not) see the municipal law enforcement adoption rate accelerate.

After I posted I left the radio scan and I did pickup a few fire transmissions as well as the TRADE bus yucksters.

Has the companies that are dispatched by Hunterdon County moved over and where dose Cranbury and Plainboro fall in on the system?

Picked up a lot of activity on that talkgroup 330 on Saturday with six digit ID's like the one mentioned above starting with 8. Also picked up activity on talkgroups 31, 41, and 348 (which have all been identified previously). Alas all of the activity I picked up was encrypted.
