Well I know I can not pre order, but ordered the Wio tonight. I have been watching this forum for a while and I do believe that Todd is making the best portable/ handheld scanner on the market. As soon as they hit the market, I am ordering one. Thanks Todd.

Any good guides for setting the radio up? I know the one I want is not out yet, but want to be ready. Guess I could Youtube it and find some, but a step by step works for me. I am a slow book learner, but watch something done once and I got it.

I'm still working on the configuration aspect of the MicroP25RX. I am planning on using littlefs with flash memory to store configuration information. If you are interested in technical details, you can read about the design of littlefs here: littlefs/DESIGN.md at master · littlefs-project/littlefs Because it is designed for reliability in embedded systems (resistance to power-glitch type corruption) and the configuration flash memory is separate from the application flash memory, I am planning on new options that will allow automatic configuration updates during normal operation. I will post more images and videos when I have something.

If you mean the MicroP25RX, @btt has not completed the design testing. We are all waiting to see the final design videos soon.
I know that, but Todd just gave me some insight.;) I might be getting old and overheat and break down here and there, but on most forums I am Comptech. I never dove into something like Todd did as I have a career as a master certified auto tech. It keeps me busy. I know electronic very well, just can't spend time doing something like him while keeping up with the Damn cars.

Mouser still has the battery packs for 27 bucks, just ordered one.
I also see the Wio battery chassis in stock now at other venders, too. Keep in mind, the battery is only 650 mAh. The Wio adapter board for this Micro design will not support the battery. It will power an original P25RX model for about 45 mins...if you have that model.

My bad, figured you the 40 pin GPIO would be standard. Oh well will use it for something on one of my Pi's.

I am not understanding that it would not work with the mini. It is adding power and a couple of ports. Does it take the pins needed for the micro in the process?

Sorry, the battery chassis is not going to work for the micro as designed.

The Wio adapter board created by @btt is meant to provide power and communication between the new radio and the Wio display.

You are correct, the Wio Terminal 40 pin GPIO is RPI compatible.

I am not understanding that it would not work with the mini. It is adding power and a couple of ports. Does it take the pins needed for the micro in the process?

As already mentioned, the 650 mAh battery chassis capacity is under powered.

The Wio Terminal uses USB Host to connect to the P25RX and the P25RX-II models.

The MicroP25RX is not designed to use a USB port to connect to the Wio Terminal.

The new @btt Wio Terminal adapter board will use the GPIO pins for power/data with the MicroP25RX. Those pins may not be available through the extra battery chassis non standard "grove" connectors.

I hope this helps answer your question about the Wio Battery Chassis.

The new boards arrived last evening. Everything is working well so far. I will have more information, videos, images soon. I didn't really plan on using the Wio Battery, but I did try it out today. I think I may have modified my battery unit in the past, so it may not be representative, but I charged it completely and it was able to power the MicroP25RX and Wio Terminal display with a bright white screen background for 45 minutes. I will order another battery unit and test it to make sure that an original unit will power the MicroP25RX. Once nice thing about having it connected is that it allows the Wio Terminal display to come forward enough from the adapter board to allow a USB Type-C connector to be connected to the Wio for development / programming while still connected to the MicroP25RX. I'm not sure if you can charge the battery while everything is connected like this yet. It may have to be removed in order to charge. More info soon.

Love it, mine will be for mobile use when available, but to be able to take it hand held for a little while would be great.

Great to hear things are going well with the boards.

If your adapter board plugs into the Wio Terminal - how is the battery chassis also plugging into the same 40 pin connector?

I guess I am missing something on the need for the Seeed battery chassis.

45 min or an hour runtime not really worth buying a battery chassis when a small USB power bank with a 5000 mAh capacity could power it for 4-5 hours or more.

I guess a usb c type battery pack with some amp hours might be better with a velcro strap might be better, but just cool with it all plugged in together with no cords.
