Thanks guys. This was just prior to connection. Great set of circumstances...somewhat clear skies, low altitude and my day off. Would have been better if they weren't back-lit, but oh well.
Here is an alternate...

That is frigging awesome!

I missed who Grim flight is. Something epic? Sometimes callsigns are much tougher than the planes. I'm looking at you, C-130s..:D
I'm guessing B-52H headed to Fairford, UK (I guessed wrong). Curious if there are others. They are expecting at least 8 of them.

And here comes his friend! GASH10, E-4B 75-0125
Always travels nearby the President.
Something funny going on here...I think he is refueling the E-4B
No Oxygen mask sounds...and the GASH10 was at FL230 and now shut off his transponder. 0157Z
Yet another attempt to Spoof us using bogus callsigns. If they used a REACH callsign...wouldn't have noticed a thing.

Me too. Speaking of that altitude, I can't ever remember an RAF C-17 refueling over us. I'm assuming they retain the same boom/receptacle setup as US (and I assume Canadian?) ones do? I'm not sure the RAF uses anything but NATO/USN/USMC probe & drogue but I've never checked.

RAF C-17 at 26,000 feet heading for you Look, if you wanted to take a shot at em.
Well...that did not go well. No contrails...no see C-17.
I did see this guy (RCH551, KC-10, 84-0189) and took a snap (FL370).
As you can see...if it hadn't been for the contrails, I would have missed him completely.

Yeah. The C-17 was in perfect sky here so he stood out. And I'm watching that KC-10 right now. Just a Reach callsign. Must be just a truck this trip.

They went back to a NY Center freq to get around some weather but i haven't heard anything else. They were going to be heading on the Syracuse radial and then to Providence.

The only tanker seen so far mode s is DUCE 02 KC-10 launched from McGuire around 0220z
and perhaps an older mode s callsign?
Gonna take more tankers than that so far..
