While this is a Mid-Atlantic group, not east coast group, they are free to join here or create/contribute to their own thread in the Florida threads. It is not about inviting them.

That said, with the exception of a very active Michigan Mil-Air thread, there are few others across the country that are active day by day in the forums.
We used to have South Florida mil guy some years ago.. Al Stern from Satellite Beach.Ron prob remembers him too.
He was very helpful in early days in late 90's before this board was even around.
He had huge antenna farm on top of his house down there and owned 75 various scanners and radios.
On average he had a dozen radios going all the time.. He passed away some years ago but was early pioneer
in scanning Florida Milcoms and Space launch coms.. He sure would have liked Space X with all their launches.
Reported passing of Al Stern (Satellite Beach, FL)

Space X has launch at 5:05PM local from Cape Canaveral.. Will be departing on Southeast track though.

Mark,

I remember him well. He was a great help to me when I first started in this hobby back in the mid-90's. Always very helpful and very knowledgeable. I always envied his monitoring equipment. ;)

Was he the gentleman that lived in the approach path to Patrick AFB (now SFB)? Name sounds familiar, I believe I met him on my only ever visit Patrick AFB several years ago right before he passed away. Reminded me of TroyMail and his amazing radio collection and knowledge.

Yeah, Al was a great guy and he would definitely have lots more to monitor now with POTUS location and all the space launches.

Now you are making me feel old (I first started in this hobby back in the mid-90's) ... I started aviation monitoring when I was 11 with a Midland tunable multi-band radio. Coming up on 58 years - I remember when scanning the bands required twisting the tuning knob !!

Yeah they were a bit upset with their flyby according to their air / air comms. They knew they were a bit out of sync but one of the pilots said it would look different from the ground so maybe not too bad.
From the stadium level, all looked good. #4 definitely threw some power in at the last minute to hold tight formation, but their pass was very professional. The flight crew was shown on the screen at the start of the fourth quarter and received a standing ovation from the 70,000 fans in attendance. IMG_7193.jpeg

I made a post in the Florida threads for info on POTUS/CAP as I'd like to monitor them. Especially living in South Florida.

I was referred to a Facebook group which has been inactive. Or not as much info as I thought would be there.

Thank you for the update, I missed your post there. Hopefully you'll keep us updated as the visits continue down there.
