Guys

Got this from a friend

No cellphone? No problem! The vintage radio enthusiasts prepping for disaster
Ham radio users – from teenagers to eightysomethings – are ready to communicate in the next crisis
Read in The Guardian: No cellphone? No problem! The vintage radio enthusiasts prepping for disaster — Guardian US
All well and good to spread awareness of the hobby but “vintage” or “retro devices?” My local club’s emergency weapon of choice is a flexradio SDR. And the FTDX-5000 he’s using as a base station isn’t too shabby either. Lastly that looks like a very nice “U-band” antenna. Didn’t know they made verticals for microwave frequencies. LOL

All in all still a good article but talks about amateur radio like it’s some antiquated hobby long gone the way of the dinosaurs.

Good show yesterday at Eisenhower Park Nassau Long Island NY with Navy and Marine choppers.
One Navy MH-60S had AB tail so should be HSC-11 "Dragonslayers" from Norfolk and AH-1Z Marine chopper crew member had the
Red Dog Marine Joint McGuire uniform patch... Always fun to watch them touch down.
Fleet Week New York 2023 Eisenhower Park Static Display / Aviation Demonstration B-Roll Package
I have the following possible freqs for HSC-11: 261.200, 243.600, 254.600, 280.600. Red Dogs probably on 264.200 as usual.

Heard something really loud fly over me. Opened up ADS-B and saw it was a TIS-B hit from LaGuardia, came outside too late to see anything. Then I saw on ADS-B another one was taking off and coming this way.

F/A-18s, going back to Oceana I assume

TIS-B hit just appeared off Long Branch, looks like it is heading into the NYC area.

Edit: This is actually C-17 DEED138 from Andrews looks like it is landing at JFK...I would say it's picking up vehicles from the Harris visit yesterday to West Point, but she landed at Stewart, and obviously they can land C-17s there...maybe a VIP visit to come?
