Rgr Ed this time of year seems a good time for NATO Polar exercise as the Sun will be shining 24/7 soonRgr Mark, I saw him heading up out of Bangor NE bound. Turned on the Canada ATC freqs and caught him on 133.225 (Drummond QC transmitter) at 152pmEDT/1752z. His callsign to ATC was NATO 01 he was passing FL290 for 330 inbound or direct to CYMT (Chibougamau/Chapais Airport - YES, I had to look that one up! Never heard of it).
up that way and lots of countries laying claims to areas up there except in January.. LOL
Notice Swede C-130 headed North as well and a Portuguese P-3 just into Halifax.
CYMT must have been a waypoint as NAG-01 has already gone on past it. Seems headed more towards Fairbanks Alaska.
I reckon RCAF and US fighters will be working too so the reason for the E-3 ship... Cheers!
Alaska has Red Flag scheduled for May 30 so maybe where the IAF planes are going.
