Guys
For those who dabble in HF comms, I saw this posted on another site. An excellent batch of info on Civil Air Patrol (CAP) HF nets.
There is a lot of CAP activity if you know where to look. 8012 appears to be part of a rather new national CAP ALE network that primarily uses three-digit identifiers. The ALE net can be found on 4477, 5400, 6806, 8012. 9047, 10162, 11402, 12200, 13415, 14357, 15602, 17412 and probably some higher frequencies. Traffic includes sounding and some handshakes between stations. It appears that stations may use specific frequencies as opposed to scanning the group of frequencies, but not certain of that yet. I have read that CAP plans to use MIL-STD-110A, but I have not personally heard it used. Information on CAP's web site indicates they have 15 national nets and numerous other regional nets with daily check-ins. The National Voice Net can be found mornings on primary 7615 with USB voice check-ins. The net also uses 14902 during afternoons. I've also logged CAP voice comms on 4604, 4633, 6802, 7615, 7630, 10510, 14450, 16353 and I am certain that there are many others as I don't monitor CAP that often. Regional and state nets can be found on these frequencies. Hope this helps.
