Sometimes you just like/need the features a particular model provides and the screen is secondary to the decision… but I feel for the OP… My obsessive mind fixates on stupid crap like this…Buy another one. I will happily take that one off your hands for a reasonable price. I mostly listen to my radios.
Yes I agree. But I will probably have to prove the age of radio. I know Icom repair in Washington state has all my information when I last sent it in for a repair last year. So I am hoping they will see that this radio is one of the bad ones.If folks here are saying that this is a very common, known issue with this model produced during a certain range of years, which can be further narrowed down to a specific production run, there is basis for a more serious engagement with iCom. If they know exactly which units are affected and that it’s a decent percentage of units, those units should be fixed on iCom’s dime… just sayin.

Icom factory service center in Michigan. sarts1Unfortunately every time I call I get a voice mail...I left my name & number and brief description but no one calls back....I did this 2 times! This sucks because I dont want to let this problem going nowhere.
I have a question, The Icom part number is REF430V-AZH-DNS (H = H:LED, High Light White )Common issue, and you can buy a replacement screen - no soldering required, it's all ribbon cable captive connections to refit:
RFE430V-AZW-DNS RAYSTAR OPTRONICS
Around USD $29 from TME electronics group in Poland.
But then, this your problem & this message is all a figment of your imagination. I was booted out of another IC-7300 group, "no such issue ever existed" & "anti-Icom troll, they don't have this problem". Sheesh.
I just sent them an emailIcom factory service center in Michigan. sarts1
