• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

More Smart Meter stupidity

I've had to deal with the anti-Smart Meter crowd in the past. I thought I knew their average level of ignorance, but I read something today that made me realize the hole of stupidity they are in goes much deeper that I thought. None of this passes even the most basic level of fact checking. This was on Social Media, so it gets shared, and the people gobble it up and share it with their friends. I weep for the sheer level of ignorance displayed here.

WOW!!!
Copied…..
To all my truther friends who mean well and are claiming this destruction of homes with trees left standing is caused by "Directed Energy weapons" AKA DEW---NO,NO NO. It's not DEW!
DEW might be used to start fires initially, but the homes are being destroyed from the inside out by "SMART Meters" being overloaded.
Smart meters have lithium ion batteries. When these batteries catch fire they have what's called "thermal runaway" where they will go from 140 degrees Fahrenheit to 6000 degrees Fahrenheit in just a few seconds.
(Since all the SMART meters are attached to the grid, all that is required is for the meters to be overloaded---yep, your power companies are the cause. )
Now remember---The smart meter is connected to the copper wiring of the home. Along with being conductive, the copper wires are also great at heat transfer via convection.
So when these "Supposed forest fires" hit neighborhoods but burn more homes than trees, the culprit in the unusual fire forensics looks to be the lithium ion batteries. Its not DEW! LOL
And of course, having 80-100 mph wind gusts and all kinds of dry brush that hasnt been dealt with helps the fire as well.
So when you consider the method being used, It's no wonder these homes are burned to dust while trees are standing within feet of the houses. These homes are burning from the inside out, literally, they're not being zapped by directed energy weapons FFS!
The copper wires in the homes are insulated and carrying extreme heat to every corner of the home..THAT is why they burn so completely, as you see in the photo.

I'm not including the photo since all it shows is a bunch of burnt out homes. We've all seen it on the news….

So if the lithium ion battery is connected to the house wiring why doesn't it explode when the meter is installed?

Exactly. And the Romex insulaton never melts. And the Lithium battery apparently has enough amerage to melt 14 gauge copper through the entire house. And of course the news media showed 10,000 homes all bursting into flames at the exact same moment when the utility "overloaded" the system.

They walk amongst us. I have no clue how they do it, but they do walk….

I saw this in a FB post (probably a lot of you did too). I did respond to one comment with a question that presupposed a bunch of fatastical falsehoods too. Guy tried to argue with me, I finally threw down my last 2 years of working with smartmeters daily, on a college campus with perhaps several hundred in total. Then I threw down my degree in electrical engineering (even tho I didn't do very well in the introductory Power Engineering course!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: )

You can believe and say a lot of weird false things if you don't know what you're talking about.

(As a matter of fact, my Dad often said "People who think they know everything are annoying to those of us who do!")

Social media will be the downfall of civilization. You would do well to get you and your family off of it.

Like most things, hiding from it doesn't accomplish anything. Exposure to it, and having more than a pair of working brain cells, helps one build a pretty robust B.S. filter.

While many don't like social media, and I don't blame them, it's got its place. To me, it's entertainment.

What a load of horsesiht.
The only reason I have a facebook account is having 4 siblings and a few close friends (I know personally) that frequent facebook.
It is so sick, I don't do other social media. Youtube has it share of bovine excretion also.

I don't have any social media accounts. I even went so far as to delete my very old YouTube account of which I created long before Google bought YouTube from the original Devs back when YouTube first hit the Internet and Google turned it all to hell.

When I was on Facebook many years ago I found it to be a source of drama, hearsay and low IQ blather. Besides that no one, not even my friends and family, really gave a damn about what I had posted. But if I uploaded an image of the damn cat along came 7 thumbs up. Really?!

The company is called Meta for a reason, and there's a load of it out there. I reckon companies and/or data brokers know more about you than the "evil NSA" everyone likes to complain about. Though, I do believe the NSA should operate internationally only like the CIA (well, supposed too)...

There's a 1980s song by The Timex Social Club called Rumors. It reminds me of social media.

On the subject of smart meters, I actually had no idea they had internal batteries, and I'm willing to bet many others didn't either. Thus an idiot has figured this out and decided to capitalize on people's physiology whilst California burns. Like a lot of the other crap, it's meant to try and spread FUD (Fear, uncertainty, and doubt). How many times did you read on social media this actor or singer died only to find out it was false? I can't tell you how many times I have to explain to my elderly parents this and that is not true and don't ever trust what you read on social media. Sensationalist journalism has been elevated to the next level, let me tell you. Where yesteryear featured pictures of "batboy," today you get full on video and commentary! Where's Andy Rooney when we need him? I can just hear is commentary now about social media.

PT Barnum is often misquoted in saying 'there's a sucker born every minute.' Even though the quote is not his, it seems to stand true for a vast majority of the carbon-based bipedal chimps that vote and form the government we have today. And it's not just social media that lives in their minds either, it's ALL of the media! Print, Internet, TV and radio. It's company versus company, corporation versus corporation, stock padding abound and they ALL live in your head. In addition to ousting social media out of my life, I too in large part got rid of most corporate media consumption and only chose to watch certain creators on YouTube, Rumble or Odysee.

Since man gathered around the camp fire social media has always been a thing... The Shaman (teachers) of our society have done a great disservice by not teaching how to think but what to think. And most of all, common sense is out the proverbial window. So I blame the parents, I blame the public education system, and I most certainly blame the media in all its facets like movies, TV shows and music.

In summary, the issue is a multifaceted one, predicated on the fact that man is a wolf to man. But one thing's for certain; It's not social media, it's social delusion coupled by social acceptance.

I yield back the balance of my time and leave you with this: Why continue to pay the carney, the showman in Ad revenue?

Wait until they figure out that the water meters are "smart" as well as the gas meters! Or that their laptops, cell phones, pacemakers, hearing aids, and smart watches all have batteries in them.

What is apparent is that the meters are now smarter than some of these folks.
