It will have issues with simulcast issues when the County moves to 700 MHz as the new system is TDMA. But that is still a while away.
Would you say the end of the year is a reasonable timeline?

The SDS scanner is the best scanner for receiving linear simulcast TDMA systems.
A test you can run is to load the State 700 system in your scanner and see if you can receive it.
The 436 will struggle with the new TDMA system. The current system is linear simulcast but FDMA.

And as far as a timeline, I will not say any info. That is not public information.

And in reality any consumer scanner is going to struggle with LSM. The only real option to adequately deal with it for non-authorized users is a Unication.

My SDS100 and 200 handle LSM/P25 P2 fine. Not as good as my APX8000 but still work well. Better than any other model scanner under those circumstances.

The Unication G5 worked well when I tested one.

What I didn't like were the Icom P25 radios. The Kenwood Armada series are nice too. But we're talking about commercial gear that require system keys to program.....

My PRO-668 w/ Whistler Firmware does a very good job decoding LSM.

But what about LSM and TDMA? I had both TRX-1 and TRX-2 and NOT impressed. Also both TRX-1 and 2 had issues with my local PD on DMR.

To be fair, I got rid of them a LONG time ago. I do not know if any improvements were ever made to the firmware.

I listen to Union County (Site 7) and it decodes perfect. I am however, line of sight to the Courthouse, so that may be why. All of the talkgroups that I listen to are Phase II TDMA. Mainly Elizabeth.

If you were between sites where you receive the signal from two or more sites fairly equal then the 668 would struggle.

I took a look at Site 6 for the first time yesterday (4/6/22) using G5.
The CC coverage was impressive if (6) is still single site.

The Control Channel in use was 469.28125. A few observations if I may.

This CC is at the very low end of the band. The G5 was not happy at all. Frequent dropouts occurred by what I suspect is may be desense from Band 14 deployed at cell sites. Of course Site 6 signal was likely from more than 10 miles away.

Locally the band 14 noise floor rises 70 dBm starting about 767.500.

Also noticed today the CC seems to be gone with the wind and rain. Could that just be a coincidence? Hope so. Alternates checked. Alternates are programmed and SDR double checked. Nothing seen today.

Site 6 is the 700 MHz simulcast cell, not a single site. For a brief period of time late last year, there was only a single subsite on the air, but that's ancient history. Last time I checked there were still a few subsites not yet online, but the majority are operational.

The Control Channel in use was 469.28125.
I think you mean 769.28125, which is still the active control channel as I write this, and the signal is strong 25+ miles away despite the weather.

@GTR8000 indeed. Yes 769.28125 AND I see what happened. One of the twin radios never got its code plug updated. Problem solved. Signal awesome on both now. Thanks and appreciate history update.

One of the most meticulous keepers of FCC licenses is amending and deleting a site
from its buildout license. This location is actually in Somerset County and very close to Route 206 & Hamilton Farms GC.

Ok, searched back a bit in the thread...didn't know it was confirmed online. I caught some traffic today on POLICE D12 on the 700 side. DFQ in Chatham and all down 24. The Rikers Hill site should fill in that area nicely so thats why.

Assuming its this channel, I am wondering if what you heard is a simulcast of Police 12 TG 274 on the UHF side?
