Motorola Advisor Programming

Hi all, I need some help in programming a Motorola Advisor Pager.

Here's the info I have:

I already have the software but I'm not sure how to program them.

this issue I have is the capcode I have is 7 digits but in the software I can only input 6 digits

Hmmmm... I'm going to hazard a guess here. If the first digit is 0, leave it off and see what happens. Otherwise, double check the capcode.

Depending on where the pager came from, the last digit may be the "function code", which basically
tells the pager what alert type to sound. It is also set in the software-but basically the function code will
be 1 thru 4. So maybe if the last digit is 1 thru 4 this might help.

The thing to remember is that the function bit does not go in the capcode field.

Or, it may be represented as 013055F4-the first 6 digits being the capcode.

I have seen it both ways.

when I read the pager, coding format says GSC and I cannot modify it.

my capcode is: 0001296

OK...You have a pager programmed for golay. Do you know if the capcode you want to program into this pager is pocsag (most likely), or Golay? Chances are you want pocsag 512 or pocsag 1200. Golay is almost never used anymore, except in really old systems.

The advisor will do all those formats. You might need to ask someone local that is "in the know" about the paging format you want this pager to work on. I don't recall any more what model # is golay only, but it is a possibility you have one of them, so if you need pocsag (which is likely) you're S.O.L.

You may have to try them all with your capcode. As you can see from the programming screenshot, you can program multiple capcodes/function codes into the advisor.
