The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Does anybody know how to get a talkgroup id from a motrola MCS-2000 radio instead of a text id. I have access to a MCS-2000 radio but I want to view the hex id instead of the text id.

You would have to program the hex or decimal ID in as the Channel Alias.
The only ID the radio is capable of displaying automaticially is the user's decimal ID if the radio is programmed to show it.

I am not actually programming it, it is already fully programmed. It is a police radio and It shows Text ID (ie. UHP North) I am wondering if there is a way of seeing the talkgroup ID (ie. 19712) that is "already" programmed into the radio.

The only way to see the hex id would be to read the radio using Motorola RSS.

There is no way to get the radio to display the hex id unless you reprogram the radio and manually edit the channel names.

Your master site
If you can run Trunker, or better yet Treport since you can tag specific traffic for a radio id, you can do it somewhat passively (no keying up). As you switch channels the radio will affiliate. Watch for the affiliation and just go through the channels. Make sure to pause on the channels for 3-5 seconds so it will affiliate each time.
