• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Hello all,

I own a XTS 3000 III:
model: H09RDH9PW7BN
Flashcode: 540001-000000-4
System Package: H35
Firmware: 07.71.00.00
DSP Software: N08.03.03

The radio has performed very well, except for recently randomly restarting.
The radio will RX fine and won't restart, unless you: change zones, channels, or scroll through menus.
Sometimes, the radio will display "Error 01/02" on the screen after restart. From my research (Not a lot online for this topic), it seemed like this is a type of Coad plug checksum. However, I have no flags when viewing the code plug. I saw another forum (Xts3000 randomly restarts) where it was stated that an Impress battery can cause some of these issues. So, I taped over the middle contact and bought a new aftermarket non-impress battery. I feel like it might restart less, but it still does it fairly often. I was wondering if anyone else had run into any issues like this before?

Also: while in the ASTRO Saber & XTS 3000 CPS, I noticed the section "Singletone", under "Conventional", while in the "Feature" tab. I know the XTS 3000 is not able to do QuickCall, but is it able to do Singletone, or is this a feature of a different radio that uses this same CPS?

Thanks for reading this post, I greatly appreciate any reply's.

*Edit*
At times, the radio will sit on a channel, and constantly restart, without pressing any buttons. Making it completely un-useable.

Also: I've thought about writing a new flashcode, which would hopefully solve this (If it was an issue with programing) and adding a few features. My only concern is, if the radio tried to reset while being flashed.

Did you try reprogramming the radio again?

Singletone also known as Burst Tone more than likely is no longer used on an analog conventional system. It was widely used to unlock specific receivers at remote or base stations by mobile and portable units and sometimes point-to-point by dispatch centers. The singletone would be transmitted everything the radio is keyed for a one second Burst duration. The common tone frequencies were, 1800 Hz, 2000 Hz, 2200 Hz, 2400 Hz, and 2552 Hz.

The use of a Singletone on a system may be used in conjunction with a PL tone.

Singletone is not the same as guard tones, function tones, key tones, etc., which are used to remotely control receivers, voters, repeaters, or radios.

Are you saying that the info in my post is "Bunk" and I cannot program any of my XTS portables to perform as I described in my posting to unlock a remote or base station receiver with the five tone freqs I have listed like they did back in the 60s or 70s?

If you're saying that can't happen than, what is the "Singletone" feature's function in the XTS series radios and why can I program that feature in my XTS series radios and when I key it emits the respective tone in a one second duration every time I key the radio? Just curious if I am wrong and kinda "bunked up!

How would I go about a new codeplug? Would deleting everything minus a personality, then starting over do it?

I'm everywhere Focker!
I thought Depot was completely separate, but I suppose that's it.
I refer you to this post...

And an addendum to the prohibitions in the original post…

Discussion of ways to hack or bypass licensing for legitimate software will be shut down and deleted immediately, as will discussion of ways to acquire restricted software, or possession/use of restricted software such as Depot. Likewise, discussion of ways to bypass system key protections, illegally obtain system keys, or illegally create system keys will be deleted immediately.
