Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all,

I have an XPR 7580 that I'm trying to read the plug from. I currently have CPS 2.0 2.122.70.0. It's the newest version available to me. The radio's info section reads CP Version 21.10.07. However when I try to read it, I get an error that the firmware versions are not compatible. I figured using the newest possible CPS would guarantee a good read. Do I need to use the newest version of the old CPS? I have CPS 16.0 build 828 available to me as well but I haven't installed it. Also available is CPS 2.134.76.0. Anybody got any idea? So confusing now that its splintered like this.

Thanks,
Emanuel

Alright I'll give that a shot. Thanks

Out of curiosity, why doesn't CPS 2.0 work if I have the newest version of that? Does the radio need a newer firmware?

The new version of cps 2 reads ctb and ctb2 formats. Installed it today.

The radio's info section reads CP Version 21.10.07.

An what does this section tell you the Firmware Version is -- What CPS you use is somewhat dependent on what Firmware you have, not the CP Version. An XPR-7580 is an older model of the subscriber. The current version is an XPR-7580e.

I believe (don't have the radio in front of me) the FW is R02.21.01.0000. That may be a different version number, the only picture I took has the title of this number cut off unfortunately.
