You can't log in because the MediaWiki software does not accept an underscore in your user name. Please refer to this article in the Wiki:

Wiki Help - The RadioReference Wiki
I don't know how I can change my name here...
Ray,

The Wiki Admin, W9BU, answered this in his earlier post above. The link he provided indicates:

User's with a username that has an "_" (underscore) will not be able to login to the Wiki to edit articles. To fix this, please send a support request to support@radioreference.com to request a username change.

In order to begin the process of changing your username, you will need to send the email requesting the change. You cannot change it directly yourself.

Hope this helps,

Ditto Lindsay's comments. . . he beat me to it.

In all honesty TRBO/DMR and NXDN have been around for almost 8 years now.

And they have been easy to monitor for at least the last 2-3 years.

You can now have a DMR conventional "scanner" for $150 (MD-380), and can even have a DMR trunking "scanner" (MotoTRBO Cap+) for about $250-$350 (XPR 6550).

That is a heck of a lot cheaper than the same old supposed latest and greatest stale P25 scanners being released.

Submitted respectfully.

Some of them are FCC listings only, so we wouldn't convert those. But the others that have specific group codes, color codes, etc. definitely need to be converted.

Thanks for this list - it makes it easier to see just how much we have of this, and right now, it isn't much - but it can and probably will grow...Mike

Well, with this said, I'm not sure what critical features of the database we are missing right now.

We already have the database setup to store DMR color codes and NXDN RANs for conventional frequencies.

We already have the database setup to store DMR talkgroups and NXDN talkgroups and we can already track and manage the following system types

DMR - Capacity Plus
DMR - Connect Plus
DMR - Linked Capacity Plus
DMR - Tier 3
NXDN - IDAS
NXDN - NEXEDGE

I implemented this a while back. I'm not sure what bleeding edge feature we are missing or that needs to be implemented. This might simply be a case of folks not realizing that we are already setup to track 90% of this stuff in the database and you just haven't submitted the data.

If it is a training issue on our end (our admins have not updated data that you have submitted for these systems) then please let us know.

When considering what is "scannable" it is important to remember that the RRDB is designed around the ability to download pertinent information to various models of scanner. So far, there is no provision for automatic downloads to the kinds of radios that are DMR/NXDN/IDAS/etc capable. I agree that the information needs to be added, but I also understand Lindsey et al's concerns regarding future access to the database.

Ok, I'll bite. Is there a single, consolidated set of policies/instructions on how the data for each of the above systems is to be stored? I know I've seen some forum posts on specific, nuanced questions but don't recall a broad complete policy.

Trunked systems are pretty straightforward, I think. I think it is conventional data (and especially talkgroups on conventional channels) that I'm not so clear on. Although it would be helpful to see a write-up on standard procedures for the storage of all variations of DMR and NXDN systems.

And, I will add, I don't think the "complaint" (if you can even call it that) in this thread is that the DB doesn't have the capability to "store" this sort of data. Clearly we can "store" anything and everything in wikis, comments, notes and description fields. It's more a matter of optics - for better or worse, the DB doesn't currently appear to have an intentional design to accommodate and clearly/easily/consistently display this sort of data. Rather, it feels/appears more like this data has been stuffed in haphazardly. Here's an example: If MotoTRBO were the only kind of conventional or trunking radio that existed (pretend, for a moment, that analog, P25, etc. didn't even exist), would the RR DB be formatted the way it is to store the data useful to the rapidly-growing population monitoring MotoTRBO communications? Or would we have some additional/different tabular fields in the DB, for example?

I'm not arguing - I'm just explaining. It is what it is, and I confess I am no DB or web expert generally, and not one to take any sort of authoritative view on this. I'm just pointing out my observation of the DB's approach as it relates to the fastest growing radio technology out there right now.

Lindsay, there are a couple of critical items for the DMR stuff that would be an issue if they were missing...these are, at least, items for what is visible in the current database.

For conventional TRBO, there seems to be no facility for the time slot, nor for the group codes (I guess you could call them talkgroups, but I'm trying not to mix apples with grapefruits here)

For trunked systems, there appears to be no way to store the color code (except by putting it into the Misc section). There seems to be times when the color code varies by frequency (I know, folks have told me it's not supposed to, but there are a few examples where this is true). And like conventional TRBO, there's no way to store the time slot per group code (talkgroup)

And it's just wierd that while the database warns you about Phase 2 trunks, it can't warn you about TRBO trunks. For a newcomer, that could be a real point of confusion.

I fully acknowledge that there are no scanners with TRBO capability as yet, but there are a few commercial radios (as has been pointed out earlier) that can, and SDRs could handle this with the proper software.

Yes I saw that, QDP, thanks. He used a couple of formatted tables that give me some ideas as to how to build the template. Still mulling the coding over a little, but I think I'll start on this over the weekend.

I want to keep it creating some sort of table so that scanner software can (someday) pick this data up using a copy/paste utility (like FreeScan's EZ Grab). That's one of the reasons why the Trbosys template was developed...Mike

OK I put a first cut of the Trboconventional template here...see what you think...

Schools Polk County Iowa - the RR Wiki

I tried to make the system info part of the table, and it resulted in the time slot token being wide. I am thinking that I can add a statename token to the list, and make it resolve a MOTOTRBO Information category automatically. I'll add more slots when I find out just how many groups can exist on a single channel TRBO system.

Otherwise I think the basics are here...Mike

The layout looks good. You probably already considered this, but if the "user" value has the possibility of being a long name, maybe adjusting the "colspan" to span the 3 columns would give more room and let the "user" value stretch across the 3-column table without the "time slot" column becoming extra wide.

One minor question: would it be possible to change the template-name from "Trboconventional" to "Table_Trboconventional" so that it is similar to the other table-related template names?

Good job and thanks,

Is it common for conventional systems (one repeater with two time slots) to have more than two talkgroups? The ones in this area don't.

I'm not sure what you mean about the colspan, but I'll play around with it.

I will rename the template and have Bob drop the original. I'll also add a spot for the state name, and I'll look into getting the callsign template nested, since at least a few of these listings have that available, too.

Thanks...Mike

I'm not sure what you mean about the colspan, but I'll play around with it.

The colspan value is "how many columns you want the particular row to span". In this case the value will be "3", since there are 3 columns (Time Slot, Group, Description) below that row that you want spanned. Values greater than "3" will seem to work, but are technically not correct, and might cause the table to render badly in some Web-browsers.

Hope this helps,

Thanks - let me play around a bit.

I want to find a title that is fairly long so I can see the results of what I do. Right now it looks OK, but I don't have the colspan set right, and I need a long title to test it with
