Detroit Post have gone Encrypted so far .
is the rest of the State following .
It wouldn't be too much of a surprise. Although where I live, MSP uses our county Dispatch and LEIN for the lion's share of their traffic. To my knowledge, the only time I heard MSP District 1 on their channels is when they do check in's and check outs.

Basically the only place MSP dispatches itself is in Wayne, Oakland & Macomb counties (District 2). That’s now encrypted. Everywhere else in the state they’re dispatched by the county and whether that’s encrypted depends on the county. Since there are many states beginning with the letter “M”, this post is in reference to Michigan.

Yeah I know. I was referring to Michigan. I live in the District 1 area for Michigan State Police.

Im reprogramming my scanner now, I had to renew my membership and was wondering about MSP, then i saw this post.

I knew good things would come to end. Between stupid scanner apps and Facebook groups. Well, it will be last time paying the premium membership fee.

Scanner apps and FB groups are playing a minimal role in this shift towards encryption. A lot of the departments are going encrypted due to new FBI CJIS requirements that require any personally identifiable information be encrypted. Some departments are creating a "LEIN" talkgroup to run plates and people on, but that only works well for your county dispatches and the larger departments. It does not make sense operationally for smaller departments to do that.

Why can't you continue to pay for a premium membership?

I kind of disagree. Nowadays every unemployed bum can tune into a scanner app to commit crimes, show up to police scenes, etc.. Look up Frauditors on Youtube. Every scanner app need to go bye bye. Unless its a paid subscription ($100/year)
