• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Is there a way to set up different 2 tone paging alert based on zone? What I would like to do is set Zone 1 for our county and monitoring North Fire-ground channels and alert for my department only, I am good with that (after much trial and error) but I would like to make Zone 2 monitor south fire-ground channels (obviously with dispatch) and alert for 3 departments one of which is mine. Is there a way to set this up? I would think it would require 2 different two tone paging profiles but I have not dug in to see if you can create 2 separate paging protocols.

This is even posted in the Motorola Pager information.
1. Scanning and 2tone page tones are not a good idea.
2. Most Commercial Pagers can use up to 4 page codes on a Frequency.
3. I would only do this if the Dispatch Frequency is the same for all 3 Departments.

Short Paging Lesson 2 tone works on 2 things 1 TONE 2 Timing (Tone Length) any of the 3 are wrong Pager will not ALERT Scanning can cause you to miss 1/2 second of a tone and you miss the ALERT.

I should have mentioned it is all the same P25 Trunking system, I just want dispatch to alert on 2 more companies in Zone 2 but not Zone 1. I may have figured it out

2tone paging on a P25 Trunking System is not a PROJECT for a Do it Yourself. You are talking Life Safety that puts you 100% liable for Communication Alerts or lack of Alerts this should be done by a LICENSED TRAINED RADIO SHOP.

in my g5 I have the entire countys two tone groups listed on the specific page and binding feature set to subgroup. then the assigned channels that you want the tones on, set with those subgroups attached. I have had no issue with the way mine works and will go from TG to TG alerting as necessary

I have a G5 and my county dispatches for multiple depts. How can I figure out tones for certain depts so I don't have to listen to all depts getting toned out?

I personally used the two tone detect feature ion the unication firmware, it’ll log all of it for you

if you have it turned on in programming, go to the channel you want to decode the tones on, then main menu > digital tone detect, turn that on, and then let that run until your tones go off again it will display on the screen, and you can see a history image.jpg

In this photo 3-4 are your tones
P2 is phase 2 - tone group 11 (the setting you use when programming it later) - and 593.75 is the exact tone it decoded

I do all this through the scanner or pps?

So apparently I had to turn it on in the pps. A tone came over, but all it said was start of voice, end of voice
