I have a 2004 Chevy Impala with a Jotto Desk Console. I use a Uniden BCT-15, Kenwood TM-708A, and Icom 706MKIIG. For the antennas, first is a Antenex CB144/440CS (Black) for the Kenwood V708A, an Antenex ABSCANS (Black) for the BCT-15, and a Tarheel M75 (Black) for the 706MKIIG. The Tarheel is 80 Meters - 10 Meters with the supplied whip. Also pictured is a Sirius Sportster 5 and unpictured is a Garmin Nuvi 765T with an external Garmin Antenna placed on the roof above the rear view mirror. The lights on the mirrors are no longer in use and have been disconnected.

The V708A and the Icom 706MKIIG are both remote mounted. Both radios are mounted in my truck with the head of the V708A attached to the Jotto Desk along with the BCT-15. The head of the 706MKIIG is attached to my cup holder in of my arm rest I also use an Heil ICM Mic for the 706. All wires are hidden and can not be seen. Many, Many man hours are put into the install of all the radios.

What kind of reinforcement do you have on the back of that trunk lid.. That sheet metal will tear in a heartbeat.

The antenna doesn't move. I have a 4-inch backing plate on the bottom, I also reinforced it with some angle bracket drilled into the supports of the trunk. I have pulled the antenna with all my strength that is didn't even shake. It isn't going anywhere.

Bit off topic, but I noticed you are scanning a low band frequency on the bc15.

How does that antennex antenna perform with the low band?

The antenna works fine as long as I am in that county or close to it. I usually use a Mon53 antenna but it is a little big so I took it off. I have one to many big antennas on the car as it is. If you are looking for a primary antenna for low-band I would not recommend this antenna.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking for the impossible. A nice discreet scanner antenna that also works with low band.

Seeing those neat consoles makes me wish that column shift cars were more available here.
Very nice and neat installation complemented by the Icom head at the front.
The Kenwood is a great radio, the TM-D700 has the best receiver of any ham mobile rig I have tried so far- and no doubt the version you have installed has the same receiver.

The microphone is just the thing for an external P.A. speaker for busting rhymes whilst mobile!
No doubt has great audio on HF.

Regards, Commscanaus.
