Hubert, NC - Onslow County (Camp Lejeune).

Radios in Truck: M/A-Com VHF M7100 w/FPP, UHF Astro Spectra.

I monitor the Marine Corp Base Camp Lejeune Motorola Type II UHF system and Onslow county which has an Motorola 800 MHz Type II system and a bunch of conventional stuff.

Radios I have in my arsenal include:

Pro-2006, Pro-92, BCD996T, BCD396T, Pro-96, Astro Spectras (1 UHF, 1 800 and 1 VHF), Uniden SMU250KTS UHF mobile, Maxtracs (1 800, 2 UHF 403-430, 2 UHF 438-470), VHF MCX1000, 2 VHF MCX100s, 3 800 Spectras, 2 UHF low Spectras, GE Orion 35-50, M/A-Com M7100 VHF, Maxtrac UHF GMRS repeater with DC remote, Astro Sabers (1 800, 2 UHF 403-470), UHF HT1000, MTX-LS, UHF Systems Sabers (2 438-470, 8 403-430), VHF XTS5000 MII, STX821 and a T3011DX KVL. - Absolutely too many... I'd love to sell some of 'em, but I know I'd never get out of it what I paid for 'em, so they sit and collect dust.

Whenever I get the time, I'm gonna put a VHF Astro Spectra in the truck and sell the M7100.

I monitor the Charlotte-Meck TRS daily, as well as mil-air. If its slow a day, I'll listen to the local VHF/UHF stuff, Heathway VIPER site, and the Cabarrus TRS.

Charlotte (North, just south of Harrisburg/Concord)

Radios:
SC230: SHP lowband, common channels (CB, FRS, etc.), Lowes Motor Speedway
Pro-97: Char-Meck TRS (mostly CMPD North/University and Charlotte Fire), MilAir
BC246T: UNCC, mutual-aid, events, citywide (swat, air ops, etc.)

I don't monitor everything in Charlotte, at times it gets way too busy to follow traffic. If something big happens, I monitor the talkgroups that I need to.

As far as listening goes, I try for a little of everything. My present projects are trying to nail down all the Viper Site ID's, trying to match up what ARINC frequencies correspond to what airlines at various NC airports, playing with the new version of Unitrunker to try and figure out all the talkgroups on the Winston-Salem/Forsyth Co 800 system, trying to nail down various electric utility systems (Duke, Progress Energy and all the various EMC's) and, lately, trying to figure out the repeater sites for the new digital system used by the Blue Ride Parkway.

RE: NC roll call

Hi Folks,

I'm new to the group - recently moved from VA to Western NC.

John KG4LBJ
Brevard - 30 miles SW of Asheville
Too many radios accumulated from 20+ years to inventory right now - Current favorites are Pro 96, Pro 97, Pro 2006, and Pro 2020 (20 channel "oldy" for VHF air).

Mostly listen to Transylvania PD, and VHF air from Asheville (I'm located high enough in the mountains so that I can usually hear both sides of the tower conversations).

Would like to find some UHF air mil comms but no luck just yet!

outsider looking in

Ok..I am not currently in NC:(, but I check the NC forums daily. I spent almost 5 years in Wilson with the PD there and relocated back to Ohio where I grew up. Moving back here was my "now-ex wife's" doing. I have two 1/2 more years and I will be moving back to NC in the Brunswick Co area. (just waiting for two daughter's to graduate HS) I post on the NC forums from time to time and like to keep up on the stuff down that way. Hint to all you Brunswick forum people that have mysteriously vannished:confused:. My folks are already in that area and I visit quite a lot (4+ times a year) and monitor all the public safety stuff I can. I also have a brother in Apex. Oh yeah.. I'll making the round trip down there this week !!:p

The majority of my radios are listed at the bottom. I have a few others that see more drawer time the "air time"...no pun..ok maybe a little.

So, I hope this yankee (future damn yankee) didn't tick anyone off by calling out here. Hope everyone has a Happy and safe and Merry !
