My pleasure, as you know the system is being erected, but the final details probably will not be out until the "burn in", or unless somebody out there has some dirt on NLMRS.

Could be some activity on the state system. On a control channel search came up with a new one.
155.6925 0144h tower 0135. When I check it shows Douglas county but I think they must have brought a transmitter from another location for testing. The signal is full bars here in Gering and if the license sheet is correct, the tower is south of Mitchell. No voice or testing with radio techs yet but we have it programmed in just in case we hear something.

Interesting find. It seems a little odd that this system is transmitting ID 0144h. This is the same system ID as the 800mhz ORION system in Douglas county.

Great info. Let us know if you hear any more from this part of the state. I will be back to Central and Eastern Nebraska in Late July, but I will not be in an area that is currently licensed for the new system. I look forward to hearing this thing come online!

Does anyone know for sure what agencies will use this new system? Will it just be state patrol and other state agencies or will city and county agencies also switch to this system? I'm asking because I'm planning to purchase a new scanner and I'm not sure if I should spend the extra money for a digital scanner or just stick with analog. I live the Kearney area and I don't think there are any agencies currently using digital around here. My main listening interest is local police and fire.

It will be used by NSP, NDOR, NSFM and NPPD at first. I am guessing a county or city govt. could pay to be part of it but I wouldn't count on that. Most already have moved off of lowband to VHF Highband or UHF with grant money so they have relativity new radios and infrastructure.

In my second job I have a bunch of downtime in the evening where I sit in a parking lot where I get to see alot of NSP cruisers go by. I have noticed alot of cars with a new dual band antenna mounted on the trunk of the crown vics. Based on the size and dual load configuration, I believe them to be VHF/UHF. I have not heard any activity on any of the new Highband freq's but will update when I do. This would be in Lincoln....

Could be some more activity on the state system. On a control channel search came up with another tower. 155.7975 0144h tower 0130. The signal is not strong only 1 bar. Still have not heard any voice on the 0135 tower but I did hear today that some of the NSP cars have the new radios installed.
We'll keep scanning & let you all know when we hear some traffic on the towers!

Does anyone have any information on towers or frequencies for Troop B (Norfolk) area of Northeast Nebraska? I am in South Sioux City and have not seen any FCC tower info yet. Are there known control channel freqs. that I can monitor to see what the activity might be around here?

The system is being built out incrementally. The panhandle [NSP Troop E] is phase one.

The implementation is behind schedule due to frequency issues [acquisition / licensing], site issues, and connectivity issues, all of which are responsibilities that the State took on.

The first phase was supposed to be finished and on line this month but has slipped and is now supposed to be operational by the end of September.

The rest of the State is supposed to be installed from West to East in phases roughly the same as the NSP troop areas and is supposed to be completed by June, 2010.

Today we heard some testing (with voice) on the new system, sounds good. Heard a tech in Gering talking to Lincoln, must have some T1 lines on a microwave link but both sides came in clear. Saw some encryption tests (go figure). They were checking handhelds! On another note someone put in the Douglas Cnty data base that the 0130 tower is at Angora, not so, I'm guessing it's in the southern part of the panhandle. There is another tower transmitting 0131 on 155.5050 hope it is in the northern panhandle because wyolink has the same control freq. for their Albin tower.
More updates as we hear um!!

Just a small update, I was wrong about the 0130 tower, it is at Angora with 156.2175 as the control channel (so far). There has been a little traffic between NSP cars most of which is just trying out the handhelds, have not heard dispatch using the system yet. I have seen 4 ID's 3116 3022 & 2 more I have at work. Won't report much more untill they are fully up and running so I can be sure of ID's and tower ID's.

Phase One: Press Release

Phase One Of Emergency Radio System Completed

Project expected to be completed by end of 2010.
Nebraska officials are celebrating the first phase of a project to link emergency radio systems statewide, so police and other first responders will be able to talk to each other.

Nebraska officials are celebrating the first phase of a project to link emergency radio systems statewide, so police and other first responders will be able to talk to each other.

The state joined with Nebraska Public Power District to pay for the $17.3 million network of towers and other equipment that has been in the making for years. A similar statewide communications network was scrapped in 2005 as too costly, but that system had a $150 million price tag.

Gov. Dave Heineman held a news conference at Scotts Bluff National Monument Wednesday to announce that emergency personnel in Nebraska's Panhandle will now be able to communicate by radio.

The new system is scheduled to be started in four phases across the state by the end of 2010.

Just a note about the "new radio system" IT'S NOT BEING USED!!!! All NSP traffic is still on low band, in the last 2 weeks I heard the word "test" once and that is all. Hope the $$ we spent was not just for a speech!

No s***, the system doesn't come online until the end of 2010. Read through previous posts, like the one above your post.

You need to read the same post in the middle not just the begining and end the whole thing first!
The system is online and operational in the panhandle. The NSP may not have all the radio istalled. That maybe why they are still on low band.

The system is online, but not in use my NSP, just in the test phases. Yep, I did not make that clear.
