I'm looking for the control frequencies for Charlotte/Mecklenburg CMPD so I can program my RS PRO-95 scanner.

Once programmed, will the scanner always stop on the control channel? Will I need to add more than the control frequencies to listen in, or just the talk group IDs? Sorry, I'm a newbie.

Thanks,

James

Log into the RR Database on this page. Go to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg TRS. All of the information on frequencies and talkgroups is listed there. Program all of the "South" frequencies into your scanner and then load any of the talkgroups you want. You don't have to worry about the north, east or west frequencies. The entire county is now working off of the south frequencies.

The list here on RR is up to date and very accurate. They are currently using 857.9875 as CC, not 858.4875.

control channel

Just a quick update the strongest control channel i have rcv'd. is 868.4875. With the PRO96 all you have to do is enter the control channel and the radio will automaticaly tune to the freq for whatever talkgroup you are listening to. VERY useful.

Useful for traveling, or a quick monitoring session.

Here's a couple of potential problems, though, if you don't have the other alternate control frequencies and voice frequencies programmed.

First, when the system switches to an alternate CC due to interference or system problems, you're out-of-luck until you enter the alternate CC., or the system switches back to its normal CC.

Second, if the system goes into Failsoft mode, you're out-of-luck for monitoring the system, as talkgroups revert back to a predetermined frequency in conventional mode. If you have all the frequencies entered, you may be able to determine which frequencies are "home" to your key "former" talkgroups.

In the case of the CMPD system, I always enter all the frequencies for the system, with the control frequencies entered first.

that is usually what I do as well. I lockout all of the non-cc channels until they are needed (usually never but at least they are there).
