Hi, I have a Uniden and am using Freescan with Windows 11. My issue is when I try to make connection it wants the Com number and driver. Where do I get the driver and set the comm number.
Thanks, In Advance,
John

Pretty sure you would need to say what scanner you have so someone can point you in the right direction.

Do you know what cable you have?

2. Drivers:
  • USB-1 Cable:
If you are using the Uniden USB-1 cable (or a compatible third-party cable), you will likely need to install drivers to enable communication between the scanner and your computer.

  • FTDI Drivers:
Many USB-to-serial cables utilize FTDI chips, which require their specific drivers.

  • Prolific Drivers:
Some cables may use Prolific chips and require their corresponding drivers.
  • Uniden Serial Port:
Once the correct drivers are installed, the scanner should appear as a COM port in your computer's device manager.
3. Connecting and Programming:
  1. Connect the scanner: Use the appropriate cable (USB-1 or similar) to connect the scanner to your computer.

  2. Install drivers: If prompted, install the necessary drivers for the cable and chipset.

  3. Configure software: Open your chosen programming software (e.g., ARC XT, FreeSCAN, or ProScan).

  4. Select COM port: In the software, select the correct COM port that the scanner is assigned to.
