Hi, I have a Uniden and am using Freescan with Windows 11. My issue is when I try to make connection it wants the Com number and driver. Where do I get the driver and set the comm number.
Thanks, In Advance,
John
USB-1 Cable:
If you are using the Uniden USB-1 cable (or a compatible third-party cable), you will likely need to install drivers to enable communication between the scanner and your computer.
FTDI Drivers:
Many USB-to-serial cables utilize FTDI chips, which require their specific drivers.
Prolific Drivers:
Some cables may use Prolific chips and require their corresponding drivers.
Uniden Serial Port:
Once the correct drivers are installed, the scanner should appear as a COM port in your computer's device manager.
3. Connecting and Programming:
Connect the scanner: Use the appropriate cable (USB-1 or similar) to connect the scanner to your computer.
Install drivers: If prompted, install the necessary drivers for the cable and chipset.
Configure software: Open your chosen programming software (e.g., ARC XT, FreeSCAN, or ProScan).
Select COM port: In the software, select the correct COM port that the scanner is assigned to.
