That's why it's called fishing and not catching! Appreciate the work you do...
I have no particular information to support this but is it ~possible~ they are using the different NACs as a kind of 'primary' and 'alternate' steering, like they had with the CPVE setup?I hate to throw a wrench in the works, but CHP South Lake Tahoe EV-20 extenders are using EE4 NAC. All of the other areas I've heard have been using EE6 NAC. I'm inclined to change all the EV-20 extender freqs back to open tone in the DB for now...

I'm almost wondering if this was a programming error, it is a little strange. In both systems, the portable radio uses different NACs to "steer" the extender to different mobile channels (i.e. Ch 1 car-to-station, or Ch 2 car-to-car on the base frequency). The "alternate" VRS freq ended up being used as the EV-20 freq for each area.
I believe the portables are programmed for F7E (open NAC) receive on the EV-20 system, so maybe listing the EV-20 freqs with no tone in the DB is the right thing to do in any case. I'm just confused...EE6 everywhere, and then of course I come across EE4.
Also, is the beaconing being observed in all areas?
Are they running any encryption over the extenders? My bcd325p2 wont hear crap from EL Centro through Winter haven?
So 154.905 mobile extenders won't work anymore?
I think it's been almost 16-17 years now since 154.905 MHz hasn't been used for the Extenders since the implementation of the CPVE system. I don't recall what they did initially for the Motor Units after CPVE was implemented for the cars and trucks. So 154.905 mobile extenders won't work anymore?

The entire MPS' came off the CHP equipment inventory way back in the 90s and where replaced with the HT1000sGeoff Fors' site suggests 2010 +/- a couple years. There were a bunch of those MPS radios that were surplused out, so I imagine there was some other usage out there, legal or not.

No doubt.I'm sure the HT1000s have been surplused too. Even the EF Johnson portables that rolled out with the CPVE have been replaced by APX8000s.
