Is this the 9/29 annoucement (although seems like the 396 firmware comes out on the 30th).

So new model announced on the 29th, then the release of the firmware update for the 396 to make the current owners happy?

Just speculating

Nice on the 30sec Delay! What's Close Call DND? I know what close call is but not DND?

"Do Not disturb" -- I believe this will mean that if there is a talkgroup already active the close call won't cut in -- it will only cut in/open when there is no other channel currently active already.

Way overdue

As far as the 30 delay -- that's better but I'd still like the ability to program a delay time myself... either way - it's better than 5 seconds

Major bummer, the only fix I'd *really* like to see is for the 246T to allow me to set my Motorola Type 2 systems to NFM so I can hear it without having the volume cranked. Oh well, November's still a way off, maybe more will happen by then. :-/

Whats everyone think this is all about :

"What’s Next?
Watch your in box for a major announcement on 9/29/2008. Can’t say more, now."

New scanner maybe?

All great news.
Alittle surprised the 330 is in the late update category considering it's an analog 396 for all intents and purposes.
Looking forward to the updates and possibly new model....about time for another new purchase.

updates on the way

Hey there, i just got the newsletter about the upcomming updates, nice news to hear! I have one question, yes i know it might sound dumb, but what exactly is rebanding? When i think "rebanding", i think "moved to another band entirely. Is this something different altogether? Thanx! N9NRA

I'd like to know if this Close Call DND update to the BC246T will include something that simply shows the frequency instead of making you "Press Any Key".

Just to make sure I understand this correctly. The Updates for the 296D & 796D will add ESK functionality?

What will ESK support mean exactly?

And I am also very excited for the 30-second FTO delay. Is there any way to make the scanner alert to a tone once it's already been opened? In other words, if you have multiple tone-outs assigned to a frequency, and one goes off followed by another, can the scanner sound the appropriate alert tone for the additional tones?

What menu items are hidden? I have been a 396 owner for a few years, and thought I knew the ins and outs. I was apparently wrong.

One last question, I am behind at least one firmware update now. Do I need to catch up before the big one, or will it bring me up to date by itself?
