The size of the SD card will not effect scan speed.

Just effects how much recording time it can handle.

makes sense the size of card is revelant to data and recording time and dies not affect the operation of the HP2

You can access up to 32GB in "naitive" mode but bigger sizes need additional support code in the device.
Some devices (mostly chinese) might get into trouble and some manufactures state a max 32GB value
to be on the safe side. To avoid problems always use 32GB or lower sized SD cards.

I wouldn't argue against anything Mark posted above, photography is one of the more if not most demanding uses for memory cards and speed and reliability are critically important. I've always opted for the Ultra cards personally though, never really tried anything higher end. In radios it's only during programming, powering on/off, or selecting what to scan (on the HP models especially) where one would notice a difference in card speed. Scanning speed itself once the data has been loaded from the card into scanner memory would not be impacted.

If you're recording, card speed impacts the processing of every received transmission.
