Sounded like 981 Caldwell Ave which is the address of Union municipal building,no actual fire just testing.

"Is there are Caldwell Lab ? That is what I thought the person said in the recording"

Thats P25 digital for you, perfectly clear yet everyone hears something different. Dispatchers need to be trained on using P25 digital, They can't talk at the same speed as if it was a perfectly good old wideband analog frequency. If your a dispatcher and reading this.....Slooooow Dooooowwwn with your speech while using digital.

Yep, definitely 981 Caldwell Ave (which is the address of the dispatch for Union Twp PD / Fire) and those are evacuation tones for the FD.

Just a heads-up - I've moved the discussions regarding Bloomfield to the statewide municipal migration thread for this system.

They just announced on the NJ Transit Police North that Penn Station units will now operate on 700 Ch. 3 statewide. I don't know if this is another talkgroup or a Conventional 700Mhz freq.

Sounds to me they are using TG 3741 D1/2 for Penn Station operations.

Will this mean 161.370 will be going silent soon? I know other NJTPD units along the NE Corridor and even the M&E Lines still use this analog frequency, assuming so conductors and Amtrak can stay in the loop on their radios (which are not 700MHZ compatable)

Anyone else who monitors Newark FD on the Union simulcast site notice a change in signal since the weekend? Since Monday I used to get them loud and clear but not so much anymore. Cuts in and out. Getting occasional transmissions.

The union simulcast consists of a few different transmitter sites. The site I am closest to is watchung. The site you are close to might be Elizabeth or some other site. So your reception could be different based on your location.

OK, trying to figure this out since no changes were made to my radios or antenna. Missing a few Elizabeth FD transmissions also.

If you're using anything less than an SDR or the SDS100, then I'm not at all surprised you're experiencing random problems with the UC simulcast. My 436 will receive beautifully on my windowsill for weeks or months, then suddenly crap out, having never been disturbed. I'm guessing interference of some kind. My SDS100 is unaffected.
