I'm in the middle, pretty similar distances from all of the UC towers, and still get random problems, which is why I suggest interference may be the cause. Whatever the problem is, the SDS100 is much less susceptible.

richee2000 you are getting good reception because you have no other UC site within range of your QTH the problem with with simulcast is it has multiple sites using the same frequencies which cause the garble and no reception problem on the older scanners. Note some sites are none simulcast a work without any problems on older scanners.

Not true... I am right in the middle of two sites which are full signal strength full quieting.... The Union County simulcast site transmitter location watchung and the Union County simulcast site transmitter location pluckemin are both equal distant and both full signal strength.

I'm using a BCD 536 and BCD 436... Still perfect on the NJ ICS on the Union County simulcast even though I am located directly in between the pluckemin site and the watchung site

The Pluckermin site (60) has nothing to do with the Union County simulcast (7), and thus is not a factor when it comes to multipath (aka simulcast distortion).

If you're using anything less than an SDR or the SDS100, then I'm not at all surprised you're experiencing random problems with the UC simulcast. My 436 will receive beautifully on my windowsill for weeks or months, then suddenly crap out, having never been disturbed. I'm guessing interference of some kind. My SDS100 is unaffected.

Interference? Maybe. Just started hearing them again. Last Uniden radio I'll ever buy.

Haven't seen any post specifying what radio you use, but the consensus seemed to be that the 436/536 were top performers on simulcast P25 prior to the release of the SDS100. Doubt you'd be doing any better with a Whistler.

I'm right in a Simulcast LSM area. I had a 436... I have a 536... They were/are iffy at best. Garbled or lost transmissions. My Unication G4 and G5 are what I rely on.

Anybody but Uniden. My company has spent over $10,000 dollars in Uniden scanners and the 536HP was the first one to not deliver as promised. Let's end this thread right here.

LOL, close 'r up! I'm interested to see what Whistler can pull off with their upcoming I/Q scanners, but seems it'll be a while before they're available and thoroughly tested. I'd love a Unication, but they're just too specialized for my needs.

Another encrypted talkgroup pair showed up. 2646/42352. This one is a bit concerning because it was all NJSP Metro Units. It appears that NJSP is moving to encryption for at least these specialized units.

Back in August someone mentioned Cumberland Co Sheriff's using Delaware 1 I believe so they've been using the system for a bit or at least testing. I am nowhere near the southern end of NJ to even monitor.

After my last comments Newark started cutting out on my radio again so I moved my 536HP off the exterior 800mhz antenna and positioned it near a window using a stock antenna. I then deleted everything in my favorite lists and reprogrammed the radio with only the Union County site and all the Union County FD channels as well as Newark FD. I am hearing all of the Union County departments without any problem. Loud, clear and understandable. I still do not hear Newark. I hear them on Broadcastify but not my radio. This is beyond my understanding now.

I can confirm it is them since one of the units today references using vehicle 104 which is a vehicle in their fleet.

Question to the group - if they stay on this TG - can their radios be reprogrammed remotely to show a different talk group name like Sheriff 1 instead of Delaware 1 ( or whatever it displays now) ? Or do they have to physically reprogram each radio ?

I've always had problems with the WO site, so I was glad when they started using UC. I heard from someone else in this forum who said they are still hearing them on the UC site.

Same Problem with Newark FD

After my last comments Newark started cutting out on my radio again so I moved my 536HP off the exterior 800mhz antenna and positioned it near a window using a stock antenna. This is beyond my understanding now.

I discovered as well I am not receiving Newark FD on Union County site, which I confirmed by using 2 radios. I still received Newark choppy as usual on the West Orange site and nothing on Union County. It cannot be related to settings I believe, as I changed nothing and everything else on Union County is received good as usual. I am located in Linden, if that makes any difference.
