Has anyone heard any on air references to new radios? Or new system range and reliability tests?
Interoperability is still a joke, when we were VHF I needed one radio and could talk to every town that we border, now no matter which town I goto I need at least 2 radios, NJICS is a great idea/system it just needed to happen way earlier, in my county alone if u count NJICS, and the county system we have 8 different trunked systems and one town that is dispatched and uses another counties system, plus probably almost a dozen towns that still use uhf repeaters, we have access to maybe half the depts if we need to, only way to communicate is the county M/A channels. Would have been nice to have everyone on the county system or each county on NJICS, but as with most things everyone wants their own toys.so interesting that towns on NJICS need to keep their analog systems to communicate with towns around them. So much for Interoperability, one of the prime reasons this system was designed for......
Sorry to say it the world we live in, a local city in my area had the balls use E on their EMS operations channel during COVID, well it blew up in his face, will not name the person or agency don't have time to get into a fistfight here.Interoperability is still a joke, when we were VHF I needed one radio and could talk to every town that we border, now no matter which town I goto I need at least 2 radios, NJICS is a great idea/system it just needed to happen way earlier, in my county alone if u count NJICS, and the county system we have 8 different trunked systems and one town that is dispatched and uses another counties system, plus probably almost a dozen towns that still use uhf repeaters, we have access to maybe half the depts if we need to, only way to communicate is the county M/A channels. (I definitely like the trunked system better than our ancient voted VHF repeated system though)
Well said.Like most I don’t think fire or ems ever need E, and police I think should have an E TG to change to for sensitive ops but not day to day ops,but that’s a horse beaten dead
Thanks! I certainly did assume that - wrong question, got the answer I deserved.Software.
I've seen this document before....I knew it was coming, it has not been a surprise.Livingston NJICS

For Livingston? I have seen them show up on West Orange Simulcast....RID and TG 5107 & 5113 - I have not been around to capture audio.Has anyone heard any on air references to new radios? Or new system range and reliability tests?
UHNJ EMS is now using their E channels more than they use the regular dispatch channel. I'm sad. Miss hearing the happenings in Newark.Sorry to say it the world we live in, a local city in my area had the balls use E on their EMS operations channel during COVID, well it blew up in his face, will not name the person or agency don't have time to get into a fistfight here.
I know this was noted in 2019 that TG 4827 is for Mountain Valley, this has been active again as of this morning overnight using this TG. Seeing New Providence RID and MV RID. However, the PD was suppose to be (originally was 4815).
I have it on a good source that New Providence PD went back to NJICS today (or some trunked system - assuming it is NJICS) today. Monitoring 4815, so far quiet (Maybe they went E?)

I put 4815, 4827, 4829 in scan mode on my radio today and so far nadaAny more New Prov activity on 4827? And I doubt they went dark...the only thing they have to hide is their high school varsity football offense (or lack thereof)...
Just got some traffic, appaers to be 4815 in the clear - oddly enough ProScan did not capture any TG or UID's.Any more New Prov activity on 4827? And I doubt they went dark...the only thing they have to hide is their high school varsity football offense (or lack thereof)...
OK. It appears to be working as expected now. In the clear. TG 4815 - they are not simulcasting.OK - it took several communications but I am not receiving RID's 2011*** and 2026*** and they are in the clear. I will continue to monitor on this other radio a little more today.
