Motorola has come out with some new onsite walkie-talkies. They are the Motorola DTR 550 and DTR 650. They put out 1 watt of power and they use 900Mhz Digital FHSS (frequency hopping spread spectrum). They are just like Nextel's walkie-talkie phones, but they don't use cell towers. They come programmed with 5 public talkgroup channels, but with an optional keypad you can change the 11 digit radio I.D to create private channels. Each "channel" is 50 non-overlapping frequencies.
