Have both channels tuned in. I've never heard them use that 700 system talkgroup ever. I think that's the one they're listed under as 'Encrypted' which seems odd for Middlesex.

So far VHF is quiet. Nothing for the past hour or so.

Hearing normal Middlesex PD activity on the VHF channel.

Hearing encrypted chatter on Bridgewater PD (Region 10) Ops 2 [TGID: 3715] today. No Radio ID came up but its been going on for about an hour or so now sporadically. Haven't picked up encryption on this TG before today.

Its definitely Bridgewater PD units talking just got hits for Bridgewater PD Portables 2 & 4 and the one that isn't transmitting an ID I assume is the dispatch console.

I will guess its too expensive to maintain a dedicated county dispatcher for a town the size/population of bernards. hence, it joined the multi-town Region 1 dispatch.

Suspect encryption has to do with the details at golf course as they have been in e clear on ops channels.

Another system change. Greenbrook and Dunellen have remained on the 500 system. This is because the micosite on Rock Ave did not support the 700 system.

Looks like this will change too as application made for frequencies here.

Lastly look for tower changes at few existing sites.

as of now, these regions are not being used:

region 2
region 8
region 11
region 12

and these towns are still not on the system: bernardsville, warren, watchung, bound brook.
any word if these towns will come on?

now that bernards is on region 1, are there any plans for bernardsville to move to the system to region 1 ?

As far as I know Warren has no plans on moving over to the county system anytime in the near future. I’m not sure about watchung but I haven’t heard anything about them switching over either. I know bernardsville had coverage issues in the past and that’s why they still use their low band freqs but I don’t know if that’s been resolved and they will go on to the county.

it would appear all Somerset Co TRS p25 UHF and 700 channels are now "simulcast" , where as , before, some towns would use one or the other, but never both at the same time... ... anyone know why this change?

Channel saturation. Fulfills the FCC mandate that all licensed frequencies issued are in use. Not sure how many PD's are actually carrying 700Mhz radios full-time besides Bridgewater & Hillsborough.

I’d like some clarification on this as well. And are ALL the talkgroups (police/fire and EMS) carried on both 500 and 700 now?
