New to Trunking need some help!

New to Scanning in the Edmontion and Sherwood Park area just looking for some cool freq and stuff to do with scanners and even some of the talk groups i have programed i am not sure what they are so if any one could help me out i would really apprecate Thank you

Have you tried the RR database? Look at the top of the screen.

In the "old days", you would have one frequency assigned to a specific channel. Like maybe 155.4150 would of been Police, 155.4000 would of been F.D./Squad, 155.9100 would of been Service, etc.
Now you have Talk Groups, these are Virtual Channels. That means that they act like channels but are NOT on any specific frequencies execept the group of Trunkled Frequencies assigned to the system. They are also Virtual Chanenls because they jump from frequency to frequency.

not all TT's do

Start programming at the beginning of a bank , example :ch 001 or 101 or 201 ,wherever you chose, and enter all of the freq's in the order listed in EDACS mode.

What brand of scanner are you using?

If you are trying to scan/trunk EDACS on a Uniden 780, try setting it up as EDACS Wide first. I made that error the first time I tried an EDACS system.

If you are trying to Trunk Track EDACS; stay away from the Type I Trunk Trackers, They only Trunk Track Motorola. Type 2, 3, and 4 is what you need
Type 1: Moto Only
Type 2: Mot & EDACS
Type 3: Moto, EDACS, & LTR
Type 4: Moto (Analog & Digital), EDACS, & LTR
Type 5: Moto (Analog & Digital), EDACS, LTR & The 700 Band???????(Who know what the future holds.)
