I can not send test emails using the tones editor in v69. I tried and it works fine in v68 but not in v69. I use Gmail and I have tried using 2 different configurations. I have tried Port 465 using SSL and also using port 587 and STARTTLS. Both of those configurations show the emails have been sent but they do not appear in my sent items folder and they are not received. Also for all of these tests I am set to "email_send_sequential = all". I am using my testing tone and have only 1 address(mine) in the txt, amr, & mp3 boxes.

Thanks - Marvin

Any errors in your log.txt file? Gmail is working for me using port 587 and STARTTLS.

I opened the v69 tones editor this morning and tried sending a test message, that did not generate a log file. I ran v69 TTD and then opened the tones editor and tried sending the test message. It still did not send but the following error is in the log file 3 different times.

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<string>", line 297, in readtonefile
WindowsError: [Error 32] The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process: 'tones.cfg'
could note delete tones.cfg - insufficient permissions, in use, or it may not have existed
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<string>", line 303, in readtonefile
WindowsError: [Error 183] Cannot create a file when that file already exists
Successfully retrieved remote tone info at 08:47:45 on 01/17/17

I have checked my permissions for the folder and they look fine. I did notice that when I ran TTD my tones.cfg file did not update. My remote.cfg file is in place, I copied and pasted my remote.cfg file from v68 to v69, it is the same file, no changes. I find if I completely delete the tones.cfg file that when I run TTD it pulls the remote tones and creates tones.cfg. If tones.cfg is there then the file does not update.

I didn't really think that having a remote.cfg would prevent me from sending messages but I tested it anyway. I disabled remote.cfg and reran v69 TTD and then opened v69 tones editor. I was still not able to send a test message when remote.cfg was disabled. TTD says the message was sent successfully, but the message is never received and does not appear in the sent items folder.

I tested v68 again this morning. I opened tones editor in v68 and sent a test message to the testing tone. All 3 messages were received. I checked, opening tones editor and sending a message did not create a log file in v68 either.

After starting v69, 3 pages were received within 5 minutes of each other but each one sent each person 3 text messages.

Here is a snip from the log. Looks like there are some things left from your build in the log, C:\Users etc isn't me.

Code:

doh. I forgot to package TTD.pyc in the .zip file. I just uploaded a new .zip (same link) that contains that file. Grab that one and try it.

Perhaps I am missing something but I didn't see the instance_id in the config file.

I opened the v69 tones editor this morning and tried sending a test message, that did not generate a log file.

The TonesEditor doesn't generate a log file. To view error messages originating from it, run the _debug version from a command line prompt. You should then be able to see any errors that get generated in the command line window.

I'll do some checking on reading remote tones.cfg files, I don't think any of that functionality should have changed.

I have v69 up and running. It just sent the first event well. Would you be able to point me to the instance_id? Thanks so much Andy

Hello everyone. I am trying to set up TTD v68 for my Fire Department. Right now I have it working successfully on my phone(android w/verizon) and on another persons(iphone w/ATT). The problem I am having is several members have prepaid iphones that use verizon towers. They are receiving the emails through the editor and the text alert using xxxx@vtext.com. However, after the text comes though when you open it at the bottom where the audio should be it says something like "content deleted" or "message deleted".

My first thought was it was their phone, so I checked all settings(ensured MMS was enabled) and did a hard reset since that was suggested. They still only receive the text alert, with the audio deleted.

If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

The problem seems to be in the email_send_sequential setting. I had chosen "ALL" and it shows to send but is never received. I changed the setting to "NONE". and it sent the messages but I also got error boxes. Also I received 3 copies of each message.

To send MMS to Verizon you need to use xxxx@vzwpix.com rather than xxxx@vtext.com

It's not in the config editor in the GUI, you'll need to manually edit your config.cfg file to add it. Just add a line like this:

Code:
instance_id = Jefferson County

Prepaid phones can be tricky. If @vzwpix.com doesn't work, try @mypixmessages.com

Edit: have them take a photo with their smart phone then email it to you from the text app on their phone. Then see what email address you receive it from. Emailing it from their email app won't work.

I think I have all three of these fixed in this release. Let me know how it flies.

I can now send admin emails in v69 with no failures, no duplicates, and it does pull the remote tones when run. Looks good so far. I will go live with it on one of my machines tomorrow and then try some test pages.

Andy,

What files are actually updated when you make changes? That way I can just copy those into my working folder.
