My only criticism of the dark theme so far is that links within a post are no longer obvious because they are the same color as the rest of the text. The dark theme would currently require a user to mouse over all the words in the post to determine if there was a link present.

I have linked the RadioReference website as an example.

Not just links are dark with the dark theme, some posts contents is also dark. I must drag across it like I'm highlighting to copy it in order to read it. I barely noticed then when a post in a thread seemed empty of any content. I looked a little closer and sure enough, there was reversed text barely visible in the post!

So as much as the default theme blinds me, I've gone back to it due to the above reasons.
I can only hope they will allow some of the many other available theme's available for Xenforo.

Can you give an example? Links have never been dark. They used to be the same light colour as the text and that was fixed about a week ago.

Thanks Mike, I'd just browsed some threads this morning and still saw posts with text I could not really see using the Dark them.
I'll try it again and if I still see the problem, I'll supply a link to a particular message if I still see this.

It was not just hyperlinks that were dark and blended in with the message text, it was some of the text in a message that was unreadable. You could see it if you boosted your contrast a bit but the only way to easily read it was by selecting the text in preparation for a copy which of course reverses the foreground and background colors.

Mike, It's probably just an original text color thing but for an example, see message #163 in this thread and using the Dark Theme to view it: https://forums.radioreference.com/threads/sds200-fcc-id-amwub384.380781/page-9
In the link above, the OP appears to have copied and pasted text from another source. This is an example of what I'm talking about.
I think it was worse before you changed whatever to make hyperlinks stand out from regular text but it still makes seeing some text in some forum posts almost go unseen.

On another note, as soon as I switched back to the Dark theme just now, I could immediately see the change in Hyperlink color! That is now perfect if you ask me and hyperlinks stand out again as they should.

I think that post (163) was the fault of the person who posted it and not the theme (since none of the other posts are like that). I suspect where they copied from, it retained the html coding to make the text black so it showed up that way...same as it would have done if the html was for it to be white and you were viewing it on the light theme...invisible. Nothing RR or the theme can do about that, it's just how the person posted it (is my thought). I guess someone could test it but I'm being lazy... :giggle:

I agree with that and also why I mentioned it is probably just related to the original source color. Like you said, may not be anything that can be done about that one. I've seen similar in other posts that where actually worse then the example I linked to.

When I sign on, I click the "new posts" and go through the posts since my last visit. At some point, I get to a "Threads below have not been updated since your last visit" even though I click "mark forums read" upon exit each time. There is also a default filter above the first new post that says "Show Only: Unread".
Wondering why I would be seeing these extra posts? The goal would be to only show the unread posts since my last visit.

"Mark Forum As Read" function.

Is it just me or do others find that the confirmation dialog "Are you sure etc etc etc" an annoyance. I clicked the Mark As Read so just do it. I can also see that someone may accidentally click the button which they did not mean to do but they are not deleting any files or losing data so yes a slight annoyance but easily recoverable.

Also after "Mark As Read" (with or without confirmation dialog) then one should be taken back to the next level up and not have to click yet another button. "Read" is read so do it and take be back up one level.

While I do find the confirmation dialog a little annoying, I don't really mind as I'm just glad that the read status is working again. That was my biggest gripe with the old forum.

I never had a problem with the "Marked As Read" on the old forum. Always worked for me.

I guess I should clarify what I was referring to. My issue with the old forum was that it was constantly marking forums read that I had not read. Therefore, before I could mark a forum "Marked As Read", I had to check to see if their were new post in any of the threads in that forum. Especially, if I had posted in one of the threads. If I didn't check them, I wouldn't know if someone had replied to something I had posted. To me, this made the whole read status a major annoyance.

There were several threads on this issue, but it apparently only affected certain users, and I was one of them.

But that was the old forum. Thankfully, this seems to be working fine with the new forum. It's so much easier now to keep track of threads that I've posted in.

My home 20 eating pizza.
I've found on the new forums I can no longer quote/reply on my home computer (though this may just be my beta version of Firefox not playing well since it likes to not play well with most things). It works fine for me when on mobile so I don't know if it's a forums glitch or a Firefox glitch.

I've also noticed since the forum changover I've had to go in and re-subscribe to things I was following. I did notice a lack of daily summary emails the past few weeks but figured things were just busy with the holidays and nobody had time to post in those topics. That's kind of a bummer since I'm sure I'll miss a few things I was following when I go in to follow them again.

Hitting reply quotes the message just fine (example: this post). I have done it on Chrome and Firefox so it is possible it is an issue with your beta version of Firefox. If you hit 'reply' at the bottom right of a post, it quotes it and you can type below just like before, though, in my experience.

Since the upgrade to the new forum software I am having some problems.
1. I do not seem to be able to remain logged in. I have to log into the forum every time I access it. Even with the 'keep me logged in' box checked. I have no problem remaining logged in to the main RR page though.

2. I have not totally validated this problem, but on at least one occasion I had to login a second time to view a picture that was in a post. I will check this out a bit more later, but would appreciate feedback if others have encountered this.

3. I cannot seem to find a way to sort posts. In the previous version one could either view posts newest to oldest or oldest to newest. I preferred to see the newer posts first, especially in long threads with many posts.

Is anyone experiencing long wait times when trying to bring up the search function? Its taking about 14 seconds for the page to come up. I am not talking about search results, talking about getting the search page up. Everything else seems to be connecting in a normal fashion.

Thanks

Yes, been seeing that here since the switch over. Clicking the "Search forums" link at the top of the forums page always takes 20-30 seconds to bring up the search page. This happens across all browsers and platforms.

I just tried to do a search using both Chrome and Firefox browsers, and the Search box, and the Advanced Search page came up immediately. Even the results came up almost immediately. So, not sure where the problem would be. Just sharing so you know that it doesn't seem to be affecting everyone.
