Keeping OpenSky out of the neighborhood.
I think my comment was misunderstood. My province is inviting Motorola and M/A-COM to bid on a province-wide P25 trunk system. I'm a Batwing fanboy.
All the missteps and failures and cost overruns and trials and tribulations of MA/COM trying to get OpenSky implemented in NY State are now well documented here on Radio Reference.
Why not present the information well documented here on this website to your provincial officials, the ones that O.K. the funding, showing how bad and faulty OpenSky has been in the many implentation attempts. And go on and on how great Moto's P-25 is, the system you WILL be able to hear. The same with the poster(s) in Florida and PA. You can stop OpenSky in its tracks, if you present well documented example after example of how OpenSky has failed. The elected officials and the local media will take heed to that.
Especially the newspapers. Let about 150,000 people read that your province wants to spend millions of dollars on a radio system that won't work in the States. Your Province deserves better! And there is more than enough material right here on Radio Reference to construct a clear and concise argument against OpenSky.
OpenSky failed in NY. But even if OpenSky had worked just fine, that’s not the point. We need to fight, fight, fight to get radio systems we CAN hear. We are Scanner Enthusiasts. It’s what we do. We can’t hear OpenSky. And we are taxpayers. And you may very well be pleasantly surprised to realize that the elected officials that decide what is spent on what will value your opinion on how millions of dollars are going to be spent.
