Newbie Help

[NSRH]

Hello everyone

I am new to this and have a Uniden EZI-33XLT+ with an Icom RC30 on the way, could someone help me and give me a good frequency to listen to LGW departures on? I am about 25 miles from LGW and don't have the luxury of an external antenna at this moment in time.

This page doesn't list a specific departure freq. Some departure info will be on clearance and tower freqs. Hopefully someone more local can be of more help.

Be advised; being 25 miles away, you are only going to hear the aircraft, and only once they have a little altitude. (Unless you live near the top of a very tall building, and face the airport.)

The IC-R30 is a very good scanner/receiver, but the included antenna is only good for local use or occasional conditions like ducting or skip. I use a mag mount 2 meter/440 antenna on a metal file cabinet and it makes a noticeable difference.

Well the Icom IC-R30 performs well, currently hearing Heathrow Director on 119.725 and I am currently at work near Haywards Heath, West Sussex. Happy Days
